Unless bama is selling out their arena every night, then size of the arenas doesn't matter. If 13k want to go, then 13k is all that want to go if its not sold out.

interesting

they don't seem to list Coach K on that list... maybe it's because Duke is private and they may not have to disclose particulars

I appreciate your enthusiasm for your program, but I have to ask - when was the last time you were drug tested? You're high, right? You can admit it. This is a safe place.

Grant was paid in the top 10 of all coaches based on his vcu resume & recruiting he had done at uf. That alone - no relationship, history, or success at Bama - was enough for the Tide to pay him MORE than UT paid Pearl after several consecutive tourney trips, a cpl sweet sixteens, solid recruiting, as well as relationships & history AT your school.

You will not offer Grant more $$ than Bama would offer to keep him. There aren't enough Pilot Gas Stations on the planet for UT's athletic department's budget to catch up to Bama's.

The truth does hurt, so suspect you finding out the BP was paid more than Grant is gonna leave a mark. 2.4 mil> 1.8. BP was a top ten paid coach.

Alabama averaged 14,265 over its 8 game SEC home schedule. That's out of a capacity of 15,383. That includes 2 home crowds of around 10,000 early in the SEC home schedule That's pretty strong considering that at the start of the SEC season the team had less than a snowball's chance in hell of reaching the NCAA tourney AND was only in that position late in the year. Very impressive showing by the fans in a season with meager expectations. Imagine if he makes a Bruce Pearl type run in the near future. Packed houses night after night.

MY error. Data posted by a vol fan in another thread had Pearl at $1.6. Perhaps that data was from 2009. My point remains unchanged - you arent getting Grant bc he doesnt want your job & if you tried you would get outbid...and Pitt would outbid you too.

The fact is. Pitt does not have the resources to outbid UT. Bama does, I've never argued against that.

But Tennessee's athletic budget and Pitt's aren't remotely close.

I'm also not saying that Wright and Dixon would come to Tennessee, only that we can make a financial proposition that would certainly warrant them listening.

According to the site you linked, Bama had profits of over $5M, while Tenn had losses of approx $500k. I looked at overall budget and sorted the Southeastern Conference by expense to revenue difference (in the business worl this is known as "the bottom line"). UT was near bottom of the conference. You LOST money. How does that equal more resources than Bama?

(please say this doesnt account for booster contributions to athletics bc it will kill your argument and save us all the trouble...then try to find a non-ut or non-bama fan to say UT can match Bama in spending. There are rationale fans on both sides, I am just not sure that you are among them at this point)

I'm telling you, from knowing a bunch of people in the administration, we are rolling in money, literally just printing money these days. Attendance is way way up ever since we started winning in football. The construction around the University is just absurd, a new project starts seemingly every day, although that's partially because of all the Richard Shelby pork.

And Saban wants a good basketball program cause it helps with football recruiting and lets face it football recruiting is more important than basketball.

Unless there is some major problems behind the scenes the idea of Grant leaving for Tennessee is hilarious. Just be happy with Marshall assuming he's willing to come or maybe get lucky with Frank.

No logical Vol fan expected Wright or Dixon. As far as the money goes, both Tennessee and Alabama have a lot of it. I think they both were one of maybe 10 schools that actually made a profit this last year

really curious how that figure shows us making money? Don't get me wrong I'm a UT grad and fan and hope they make as much money as possible, but the link up there was the definition of pie in the face. Did you really miss the minus sign showing that we lost money?

Yes both schools have money, but it also helps to continue making it(aka a $5+ million dollar profit) and not lose it like we did. We sell out Neyland every weekend the way we used to and the way Bama current sells out BDS every weekend, then we'll have similar numbers. Until then, the point is mute. and yes I realize this was a basketball conversation, but we all know that football drives it all, esp with 100k capacity stadiums.
