And 50/51 still make at worst 3

Ah 1950, chanmpions of the Boand System Poll, DeVold System Poll, Dunkel System Poll, and Houlgate System Polls

Impressive

Also by:

National Championship Foundation - The National Championship Foundation (NCF) was established by Mike Riter of Hudson, New York. The NCF retroactively selected college football national champions for each year from 1869 to 1979,

College Football Researchers Association - The CFRA took a vote of its members from 1982 to 1992 to select an annual college football national champion. Members were asked to rank the top 10 teams, and a point system was used to determine a national champion based on the members' votes. The CFRA also conducted a retroactive poll to determine historical national champions for each year from 1919 to 1981.

You have to be fricking with us with threse claims right?

This would be like Ohio State claiming a national title in 2019 for leading the ESPN FPI poll at the end of the season.

I don’t know maybe? I am not taking away Ga success but Tennessee had to start with nothing.
We are slowly moving in the right direction
To be honest with you I am more worried about Fla . Much better recruiting grounds than any of us.

Recognized national titles. If we are going to nitpick and put asterisks by titles then let’s do so. 2021 UGA would get an asterisk based on not winning their conference. LSU 2019 would get one over scandals, Bama 2020 gets one for Covid. Any time a school was not undefeated and had a 1vs2 bowl would be delegitimized.

Are we sure that’s how we wish to do this? Must win the conference and bowl game(s) ?

For football, how far back would you go for relevant national championships

Count all of them or none of them.
And the consensus methodology is the only way to look at NC’s. Who did the majority of established polls at the time recognize as the champion.

Tennessee 1938, 51, 98 are legitimate.
Tennessee 1967 is absolutely not. 1940 & 1950 are weak but at least arguable.

But still have the 2nd most national titles in the SEC, 3rd most conference titles, and 2nd highest winning percentage in the SEC. You can suck a fat baby Dick bitch.

Laugh all you want. Still don’t change the facts that UT sits #2 in National Titles among SEC teams. And has the #2 best winning % of all SEC teams. Those are facts.

Yale has 18 NCs. That, too, is ancient history.

the only standard is the major selectors. That isn’t a difficult concept. Claiming titles from retro-active selectors like Tennessee is worlds different than claiming the only selector that matters like the CFP champ

Your own school only claimed 2 until the mid 2000s. That should tell you something

What's your definition of slowly?
Tennessee took a pretty good leap forward this past season.
Keeping it going and sustaining can be tough, but it was a pretty decent leap this year. It was the first time in a long time I was genuinely worried about Tennessee going into the game.

Consensus National Champions
1942, 1980, 2021

I think they should claim 1946 at 11-0 and the only undefeated untied team in the country but they elect not to.
