2015 win totals
Alabama - 14
Ole Miss - 10
Florida - 10
Georgia - 10
LSU - 9
Tennessee - 9
Mississippi State - 9
Arkansas - 8
Texas A&M - 8
Auburn - 7
Kentucky - 5
Missouri - 5
Vanderbilt - 4
South Carolina - 3
I think the clear best candidate is South Carolina.
South Carolina has the following winnable games : @Vandy, EcU, @UK, A&M, UMass, Mizzou, Western Carolina. I think they win at least 5 of those, probably find a way to get 6. That is a 3 game jump.
In terms of biggest drop, I think probably State, mainly due to a tough schedule. State has loseable games @LSU, Auburn, @BYU, A&M, @Bama, Arky, @Ole Miss. I'd guess they finish 7-5 or 6-6, though I said the same thing this year and they played very well.
Alabama could go 10-2 in the regular season and then win a bowl game and have a 3 game drop as well, but due to the logistics of playing 3 extra games the past season that doesn't really seem applicable, but technically it could be them.
Thoughts?

Georgia could drop possibly but that is a toss up. So many question marks revolve around that team right now. Ole Miss could drop but I do not think it will be huge one. 8 wins minimum including bowl win IMO

Mississippi State will have trouble replacing Dak Prescott, as Auburn did with Cam Newton, Florida with Tim Tebow, Texas A&M with Johnny Manziel and so forth... It's hard to replace a guy that does so much for an offense.

We are about to usher State into the Dark Ages.

Yea, that game being in Oxford and Georgia probably/possibly starting a true freshman QB early in the year I'd think Ole Miss would feel pretty good.
I thought about Ole Miss, but I think their worst case is probably 8 wins like you said.
I'd consider Georgia but I think there are at least 7 guaranteed wins on that schedule, probably 8.

To be fair, really nowhere to go but up from 3 wins.

State will see a drop but should be fine the year after.
And depending on if little can lock down the LT position and our secondary be serviceable....I can see ole miss as low as 7-8 wins.

Agree - I've stopped doubting Mullen's ability to evaluate and develop their talent into solid 7-9 win teams every year.

The 1998 and 1999 Gamecocks disagree with this statement

State is going to have a huge drop off. Losing Dak and Jones and bringing in a dog shite class. No bueno

I would think A&M has the biggest possibility for a disastrous drop off type season.

State biggest drop
AU has been down for a couple years and the way they do things they come out of nowhere with national title contending team so biggest leap, probably them.

This years class is maybe a point lower for avg player rating than last yes which was ranked 22nd. It's just small and not as elite as could be but they filled the most glaring need at OL. This class has no effect on next season any way stupid. The team will return like 17 seniors or starters. More than the 2014 team. Just have to get good qb play. That's not gauranteed but certainly not out of question as the coaches feel good about their options. 8 or more wins for sure.

You are probably talking a 3 win increase or decrease as being significant.
I only see two teams who wouldn't surprise me there, AU and USC, both to the plus side.
MSU could drop to 6 but only if they get terrible qb play. Mullen is too good of a coach for MSU to fall too far.

Eh, that seems like a reach (the "for sure" part).
Definite wins : USA, @ UMass, Samford
Probable wins : South Carolina, @ Kentucky, Auburn, A&M
Toss ups : @ BYU, Arkansas
Probable losses : @ LSU, @ Alabama, @ Ole Miss
So, I think 7-8 wins is a pretty solid baseline. I wouldn't say 8 "for sure".

I agree but who knows.
BTW, ALL of our games are winnable ... even the ones against UGA, @Florida, Tennessee and @ the sheep humpers. Plus, you forgot @MSU.
We were not good last year yet we lost five games by a TD or less including a five point loss to the goat porkers to end the season.
Gamecocks should go no less than 7-5 regular season just on the new enthusiasm and energy alone. If mUSChamp does nothing else he will return our defense to our usual physicality and intensity and, hopefully, with a decent OLine returning Roper can build the offense into something serviceable with the young talent at some of the skill positions he is going to have including a good group of WRs and at least one RB (Tyren Jones) who we hope is going to be special to go with the ones we have returning.
Our Special Teams should be excellent regardless, with our punter and kicker returning.
No game on our schedule is NOT winnable - they are ALL winnable, some more than others.
But to your point, we cannot afford to overlook one single game. Never has "one game at a time" been more apropos than it is for the Gamecocks this coming season.

I mean, you expect Auburn to go 10-2?
Definite wins : Arkansas State, ULM, Vandy, AA&M
Probable wins : A&M
Toss ups : @ State, Arky, @ Ole Miss
Probable losses : LSU, @ UGA, Clemson, @ Alabama
I mean, I see almost no way outside of a magical 2010/2013 season that Auburn wins 10 games. Do you really see that?
8 wins? Sure. 9 wins? Possible if things progress well.

I don't really see BYU as a toss up. If we lose to them we are just bad.
