We'll see how the d pans out. TAMU has been susceptible to the big play for sure, but I think that is a learning curve this year, not a personnel problem. Would like to see a QB like that at LSU. Maybe Jennings will grow into the position.

Our defense doesn't "suck," it's just not our strength.
And as long as our offense goes nuts, our D doesn't have to be tops in the conference.

I appreciate the OP's sentiment, but I'm going to wait a couple of months before making any predictions.

There is an axiom in the military (and I paraphrase) that one can reach the point at which overwhelming quantity is an adequate substitute for superior quality. The Germans learned this lesson in WW2.

Similarly, a football team can reach the point that an overwhelming offense can serve as an adequate substitute for an exceptional defense. TAMU did not reach that point last year, because we had an horrific defense. With a merely average defense, we would have won two or three more games.

This year, we WILL NOT have an exceptional defense, but improvements in the front 7 seem to indicate that the defense will be average or perhaps a bit better than that. That marginal improvement is all we need to compete for a spot in Atlanta.

Considering its practically the same offense from last year minus JFF... lets just reserve its badassness until the play another opponent that understands how to play defense

That showing was impressive. I'll have to see more games to make a solid call on A&M. As long as Sumlin is coach, A&M will never have to worry about scoring. Either A&M is really good or USCe is worse than we thought...

You're arguing w yourself.
I have yet to see anyone say our defense is tops.
Without a doubt, we gotta put in some work on that side of the ball.
But again, it's only one-half of the game.

Hell why even make them play....lets just give them the trophy now and let them rest up for the Championship game in Atlanta.

That wouldn't be fair to our season-ticket holders.
