I agree with LSU, it will be a grind this SEC season. If we are not good enough to sweep Sac St and Ball St it will be tougher against SEC teams.
Offense has actually been better than I thought.
There will be some defensive issues and bullpen has some holes. Plus LSU gets Fla, Vandy this year but at least both at home

And Florida may get the double this spring, having the top ranked baseball and softball teams.

It's a strange phenomenon for sure. Our claim to fame so far is being the first SEC team to win the national title in baseball. We were one game away in 2008 (?) of winning the CWS again but got out slugged by Fresno State in the finals.

Fresno State killed Georgia baseball.

Sac St. is a very good team and will more than likely make a regional.

My LSU brethren will downvote me, but we are going to struggle a bit in SEC play. Will not be ranked as high as we are now. Just really young and pitching we thought would be our strength is inconsistent.

Nobody that knows eff all about college baseball should down vote your comments. This is by far the least-experienced team Paul Mainieri has ever fielded, pitching notwithstanding. Not only 8 of 9 everyday guys are new starters but the majority of your next 9 are freshmen as well. They will battle but the inexperience is often glaring. If they can play 500 during the first half of conference they have a good shot to finish the slate with a winning record in conference. Guessing around 16-17 conference wins as of now, which would be good enough to get into post season.

Sorry to hear how good your pitching is. Arkansas has NO #2 or #3 pitcher. These SEC series may eliminate Arkansas early until some of our Fr pitchers gets over the shock of how good the
competition is in this conference. We are very inconsistent on the mound right now!

SCAR played for the national title twice in the 70s ... back then it was one and done, for all the marbles, no playoff series.

There could be several more SEC national titles if we really looked at it that way ... because some SEC teams were probably the best teams in the country that year but the one and done thing made it what it was.

#1 Florida is crazy good.

Pitching ++
Speed ++
Hitting ++
Experience ++

They'll need some injuries or arrests to not win the league this year.

Don't know what it will take for UGA to receieve votes. Keep winning, I guess. 9 teams ranked in front of us with worse records and UGA has played a solid schedule.

Hope you guys are still paying Perry Costello for the second. He did a damn fine job.

Costello had nothing to do with our 2 CWS titles.....he played his role in our 3-2 win over y'all to make it back to the Championship series for the 3rd straight year. We lost that one to Arizona. Costella wasn't a part of either CWS title crews....

As things stand right now our weekend rotation against y'all will consist of a sophomore and two freshmen:

Friday: Soph. Clarke Schmidt
(4-0, 0.32 ERA, 28.1 IP, 32 SO, 5 BB)

Saturday: Fresh. Braden Webb
(3-1, 1.80 ERA, 20.0 IP, 21 SO, 13 BB)

Sunday: Fresh. Adam Hill
(4-0, 0.47 ERA, 19.1 IP, 32 SO, 3 BB)

Both Schmidt and Hill are currently #1 and #2 in the SEC in ERA, and tied with UK's Dustin Beggs for the lead with 4 wins. But USC has played a fairly weak OOC schedule thus far, and the SEC competition is another level entirely, so we'll see......

I think they've been solid so far. Puk is really the only one I've been disappointed in but even he only as a 2.65 ERA so it's not like he's getting blasted out there. Just expected him to be a bit more dominant.

Who was the kid #3 or #6 (?) pitching last night against Fla State?

He looked pretty damn solid. Don't think he allowed a run, and looked like he could put it anywhere he wanted.
