How has it taken a full page for people to point out your spelling of defining?

I think Alabama was ranked way too high that year because they are Alabama. they were not close to being as good as they were in their title years. SC got crushed by Auburn in the SEC title game if memory serves. Then lost their bowl game to FSU.

The fact remains. Alabama was still #1 and just coming off a national title. Beating them was huge nationally.

Winning the SEC East, on UF's home field, was equally big. I don't need to explain what making it to the SEC Championship does to a program, even if you lose. Look at what it's doing for Mizzou (program momentum/recruiting). But I'll say this... USC followed that SEC championship appearance up with a few 11-win seasons, big time recruiting wins, and a few nice bowl wins.

Not to take anything away from the 5 straight wins over Clemson but it really didn't do anything for SC nationally. It's good for state pride and what not but it really doesn't help SC's national image or recruiting in anyway...

I would argue that winning 4 of the last 5 versus UGA does more for SC than beating Clemson 5 years in a row. And I say that because Georgia is one of our most important states to recruit and beating them has SEC implications, even though SC has failed to take advantage of that the past few years.

I think this win was the turning point of Spurriers career at USCe. They subsequently made their 1st trip to Atlanta as a result.

Spurrier owns UGA historically so those wins only count for so much. The streak over Clemson was great but I don't know if it has the same significance nationally as the Bama win

What says tRant

F, another game later in the year was much bigger in terms of stakes: the Win in the Swamp with the SEC East on the line-- winner of the game goes to Atlanta, and despite being in the East and playing in the Swamp every other year South Carolina to that point had never won a single game in Gainesville.

Gotta make that tee time. Nothing wrong with that.

Didn't SC get a beatdown at Florida on year with Driskel at QB? Conor Shaw was terrible in that game, it was right after their loss at LSU where Shaw played bad.

I disagree, I think the 5 wins over Clemson helped SC a lot, with recruiting instate and out, especially because Boyd and Sammy Watkins were popular with casual football fans outside of the state. Those are two of the most well liked players of past 20 years I think.

SC and Clemson has one of the better state rivalries in country and good rivalry games like that do help recruit, and SC being better than they used to be is better for Clemson for recruiting.

Not sure what you're trying to prove by continuously talking about bad SC losses or bringing up Shaw's less than stellar outings. They have nothing to do with the topic of this thread... Trolling SC on a Pro-SEC message board in a thread where the OP asked a simple question is too ridiculous.. You're trying way too hard.

not trolling at all, just debating some points made by others.

I praised SC for winning 5 in a row against Clemson. don't see what the problem is.

I see you guys bring up the losses to SC, WVU and FSU all the time and never talk about the good wins. doesn't bother me at all.

what makes him retarded

I will give you the honest answer, then go back to making fun of Dabo.

He's not retarded, and he's a decent coach.

But SC fans hate him because he's their rival, LSU, GA, AU, and KY fans hate him because he beat them, and he's in another conference, so it's easy for the rest of us to pile on. So there you have it.

Dabo sucks.

Beating Alabama is every teams defining moment.

I never been to a game there but I would think there isn't a bad gameday atmosphere at any large college in the south. this is where college football is most popular outside of some Midwestern states.

You are a troll because you flock to every SC thread and play nice before eventually throwing around your senseless drivel.

Nobody brought up those bad Clemson losses in this particular thread (except you), but instead of sticking to the topic of the thread you continuously toss out ridiculous questions that you already know the answer to. That is being a sarcastic troll, the worst kind of troll.

For what it's worth, nobody is talking about Clemson's big wins because this is the SEC RANT, and Clemson is not a member of the SEC.

You say it doesn't bother you but that's obviously not true, otherwise you wouldn't be in this thread trolling and then saying how we never bring up Clemson's "good wins"...

Stop pushing your stupid Clemson agenda and be a good guest.

Dabo sucks.

Sums Dabo up nicely. A "Decent" coach is the best way to describe him as a coach. Unlikely to ever win a NC but does just enough to avoid being fired

For reasons known only to Jay Jacobs, he's determined to play up our Clemson "rivalry" when most Auburn fans can't stand the sight of Dabo's goofy face. Losing to him is like losing to the town idiot. It really sucks

No.

The pinnacle of CSS's time at USC was the week prior to and the pagentry of playing against Auburn in the SECC game.

The bammer win was no more important than any other SEC win that year.
