The dude would be 6-1 if not for the QB going down against UCLA. TAMU would pound UCLA right now with Mond gaining all that valuable experience.

I think we need to keep him. An SEC heading coaching gig no longer has the shine that it used to. Last year, one of the better programs in the conference had to resort to hiring within after striking out on a number of top candidates.

I wouldn't use Joe Alleva's effort as a metric. He essentially was told no by 2 pipe dream candidates, and then gave up.

Everyone should "get behind" Sumlin until at least he loses another game

Isnt this required of all *aggie players and fans?

Sumlin's status will be revisited at year end.

9-3 record or better would be showing improvement.

No reason to declare anything until then.

article says context matters.

sec is shite outside of two teams. ucla loss still counts. rumlin better win 9 games.

it was this way before the season when we didn't think most of our opponents suck.

context matters.

WGAS about home vs. away? Overall stats are what matter.

Even your moronic cherry picked stats don't say what you think they do. Sumlin has 3 home ranked wins in 5.5 years. If I'm reading your stats right, Slocum had only 7? He was there for 14 years. That would mean Sumlin is doing better.

Whatever. I'll be happy when he's gone. Mediocre coach, and we can do better

What part of your history leads you to believe that?

i agree. i've actually found myself wanting to keep him if he gets 9 wins with a tf qb. i'm hoping we go 10-2. i think it's possible.

Slocum had 7 as a member of the Big 12. That's 1996-2002.

ATM's remaining schedule:
Bye
MSU
AU
NMex
@OM
@LSU

ATM has a talented team and Mond is playing pretty well now. They have some monentum too. It's time for Sumlin to finish a season well. No excuse not to beat MSU, NM & OM. AU & LSU are winnable games too. The opportunity for Sumlin to prove he can finish strong and get over the 8-5 hump is right in front of him.

Win all 5 is the best possible outcome of course which is doable. 4-1 is far more likely. 3-2 is very, very meh

The UCLA game was a bad loss, optically, but outside of that game, you guys have looked pretty darn good. Sumlin might be having his best year coaching wise since he has been at A&M.

hopefully 3-2 gets him fired.

4-1 or better gets him a token extension with minimal or no additional buyout money.

I long ago realized I was pretty much the only Ag here who supported him (I could understand that, to a point), so I'm glad to see some public commentary on the subject.
He's a good coach who deserves another year, but I'm fine with whatever decision is made.
Regardless, I certainly don't hope he fails, as some do.

I'm not sure why the rest of the SEC other than LSU and Bama would want A&M to keep Sumlin. He's 23-10 against them.

Does a 2-3 record against a perennial bottom dweller answer your question?

I want him to succeed also. But he has to win more games. He has to beat the other coaches. Especially considering the other teams look beatable.
