The environment and people were good, but the journalists acting like it was the end all-be all game atmosphere are simply being reactionary and overly excitable.

And then those polite Mississippians ditch the Southern hospitality in favor of sadism, transforming their stadium into a torture chamber.

Wielding tens of thousands of cowbells like an audio cudgel, they ceaselessly pound upon your eardrums. The high-volume video board functions as a waterboard. Then the fans add one more layer of sound by howling hysterically for four hours.

This may be a quiet hamlet near the middle of nowhere most of the time. But on football Saturdays in 2014, with a dream of a team to cheer for, it is an ear-splitting slice of hell for the visiting team.

Of all the intimidating venues in America, I cannot imagine a single more oppressive place than previously sleepy Davis Wade Stadium was Saturday against Auburn. In front of 62,945, the largest on-campus crowd in the history of the state, the defending Southeastern Conference champions freaked out amid the first-quarter bedlam, falling behind 21-0 before anyone even knew what happened.

I agree. It's louder than BDS, Jordan-Hare, and Vaught-Hemingway. I was impressed when I went. That was before the expansion. I liked the cowbells. Gave the place a unique feel.

Death Valley wasn't that loud for very long when we played them this year. I remember much of the game there weren't many fans in the stands to make any noise.

If the circumstances were the same like #2 vs #3 and it was a good game, Tiger Stadium would shite on Moo States. LSU-Bama 2012 was notes as the best all time environment at a SPORTING event, by many analysts such as SVP.

I was there as well and I'm calling BS. It was loud but not louder than any other big time venue for a big time game, and definitely not one of the louder games I have ever gone to.

Last years Iron Bowl was louder, as far as games I've gone to.

However it was a rocking atmosphere, looked like the students were having a blast.

Another huge LSU bed shitting?

Biggest crowd in Louisiana history. Dak makes them leave at halftime.

I was there. It was loud, but probably not even in the top five of loudest games I've heard.

This. ETA: I was impressed with the atmosphere

I've always liked Davis-Wade. The view of the water tower is pretty cool.

You Bulldogs are reppin Highway 82 like a boss.

I'm happy for y'all.
