He wrote columns (a lot like that one) for the DM a decade ago. He was a student from like 1999 until 2005 or so. He now freelances and lives in Nashville.

Well Starkville does suck, that is true....
Still doesn't change the fact that State will probably face rape Ole Miss this year.
I don't have any qualms with State fans or their athletic programs, but I will say there are very few towns in America that make Waco, TX attractive. Starkville is one of those, with Ames, Iowa right there with you.
