We have not defended Steele, nor is AU thrilled with the hire.

You can buy back years of service in another States retirement system. Very expensive but worth it is some cases.
See my post. It can indeed be very much worth it but you've got to be vested before you can do it, so it wouldn't help Steele before at least 6 years.

Vested in Alabama system at a reduced rate after 10 years. Best money after 25 years.
It isn't just the rate.
If you 'retire' with less than 25 years, you can't start drawing a pension until you're 60. If you've got 25, you can start at any time unless you were hired after 2013. Those folks have an entirely different set of rules.

So what kind of pension will the dipshit who posted the bogus stats on the website get?

Steele is almost 58 years old and I am sure he is getting a two year or better contract. It is a good move by him , especially if AU buys his other years of service back for him.

He hired Lance Thompson a couple of times too.
Good luck with Nick's sloppy seconds.
Didn't he have a guy named Dooley on his coching staff at one time also?

I don't know what either side was thinking on this one . Why would Steele leave a better program with more talent with a coach on the hot seat for a team with less talent that also has a HC on the hot seat. The reason I could see why Steele would do this is if Miles is stepping down and he knows he will not have a job . Auburn hiring another disappointing coach that came from a SEC program to be their DC is funny. The last one didn't do very good and still left them after one year.

I would have at least had a few hours to feel good about beating Memphis.
Is this what it has come to on the plains.
I almost feel bad. Just watch your VCR recording of the Kick 6 and go pop open a Natural Lite and maybe that will ease the pain...Kick the dog if you must.
