7 of the top 12 recruiting schools (Rivals) in 2015 were SEC teams....10 of the top 22, so.....

And yet that's not the problem internally. Like I said, we often run roughshod over what are supposed to not only good but higher ranked teams during bowl season. It's not that we're failing to make these rankings it's that we're lacking quantity. A number 1 class under Saban is nothing like what was a number 1 class prior to Saban because he's been able to compile an unprecedented (and it truly is unprecedented) amount of 5* players and highly ranked 4*s.

It's a quantity and distribution[ issue -- not that we're failing to recruit at levels above everyone else (we still are but that we're failing to get a healthy number of the game changing players that used to be more spread around and those guys (when they pan out) make elite teams.

Yep, I can break it down by sports and years if you like. In fact, State is like number 5 or 6 in all time SEC titles in the Big 3 sports. Bama, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, and Tennessee are ahead of us. We have more than Auburn and UGA.

The SEC will never get the respect it deserves while a Blueblood Bellcow conference flagship like Mizzou is down. The good news is it looks like Missouri will rebound and win the East again next year.

Probably better to get rid of schools that haven't won a NC in the last 30 years.

You have 1 SECC in football and that was in 1941. Tulane won the SEC more recently. No one cares about your baseball team

Yes but then all of the championships go with it.

As far as football goes the sec suffered this past year because the QB play was so terrible. I would expect the sec to be back near the top this year. As far as sec athletics, until schools like Alabama and others that have the revenue to make improvements in basketball and baseball and the fan base starts to support those teams the way they do football, the SEC will never be anything other than a football conference. Just like football the last few years and other decades it's one team that dominates. In baseball it was LSU and then SC for a very short stint. In basketball its always Kentucky with another sec team stepping up on occasion.

The SEC is the richest conference. We have made it this way through hard work since the 1990's. Every single University in this Conference should be able to hire a good coach no matter what the sport. There is no excuse for losing records in athletics from here on out. I don't care if it is Tennis or Baseball.

You take shots at MSU pulling the Sec down in overall sports yet we've actually done more than you have.

And to top it off, you mention baseball??? You have the worst baseball program in the conference. Now say hello to Sec champs. Our #4 nationally ranked womens team says hello too.

Get rid of A&M and mizzou. Their soft cultures have no place in this great conference

From outsiders perspective the SEC is perceived as becoming weak every year that Missouri is in it. They were brought in for TV markets but the STL area doesn't even like them. Just check out the Mizzou board and you'll see ESTL's disdain for mizzo

To be honest it is a complete uncertainty of the whole culture. People that opposed the strike know it was unfounded and rediculous. The blm people still think the poop was real and that mizzo hates black people. East SL thinks mizzo never plays their players. And alumni just want Kim Anderson gone.

The problem is two fold:

1) Fan bases want the level of success that Alabama has had, rather than settling for being very good. Case-in-point Les Miles, Mark Richt, Tommy Tuberville (his very last year notwithstanding).

2) The schools think that throwing huge money at mediocre coaches will automatically make them next-level. Sumlin, Bielema, B. Jones, Malzhan these guys are all paid like top 15 coaches in the country because they are at top 25ish programs in the country, not because they are top 15 coaches.

That's where the SEC has a "problem". The problem is that Alabama has had crazy success and other programs (rightfully) think why not us.

And let's be real, the bulk of the SEC success comes from 6 teams. UT has been in purgatory for the better part of a decade. Florida hired Will Muschamp for god knows what reason, and that set them back. That's 33% of potential challengers ultimately taking themselves out of the running.
