If you want to major in the liberal arts, international business or journalism, South Carolina is the better choice. If you want to major in sciences, engineering, architecture or agriculture, A&M is the better choice. No knock on the Aggies, but the schools are geared towards different subjects.

Then don't insult A&M by calling it a non-flagship when it is

Don't know about Int Business, but congrats on liberal arts. A&M is about producing people to make money and be successful.

It's the flagship of the A&M system, but that doesn't make it the flagship school in a colloquial sense. It is common knowledge that land grant colleges were established after the Civil War, per the Morrill Act of 1862. The term flagship, as it is most commonly used, refers to universities established prior to the establishment of land-grant colleges. That would not include Morrill Act schools in the South, including Auburn, Clemson and Miss State.

Yes, because politics, history, philosophy and literature are the banes of human progress.

You mean like Bob McNair, Darla Moore, Hootie Johnson, Gary Parsons, et al? Oh, wait, sorry ... they're Gamecocks.

They sure as shite don't pay the bills.
If we're going to play the Horns again it's best to speak with them.
We offered, they declined. In their own words, we lost the privileged of playing them.
Somewhat related, Bob Stoops is obsessed with the SEC.

No, but what's funny is that you fricktards are.
Any time y'all wanna compare big money alumni, celebrity alumni, etc., just say the word.
Otherwise stfu.
I'm really beginning to understand what the tsips meant when they warned the SEC about y'all's pathological inferiority complex.
Y'all can be embarrassing to be around at times ... that's what we're "seriously" saying.

The cost to renovate our football stadium would have drained your endowment. We could buy your campus and turn into a nice little satellite school

I hope A&M wins. Spurrier never knows when to shut up.

Hence the term "colloquial." Look at the Southern states where you have a pre-Civil War state school and a post-Civil War land-grant college. In VA, NC, SC, AL and MS, the pre-Civil War school is known as the flagship. That doesn't mean the others aren't good schools or worthy institutions. Hyper-sensitivity is never a good thing.

This whole academic argument is in general, stupid, but I thought I would add a bit that overall people would be surprised at some of the Morrill Land Grant schools.

I agree it's stupid, and the flagship thing is not meant as a knock to A&M, as I prefer them to the Horns 8 days a week. My argument about the Morrill Act was a rebuttal to the poster who referred to South Carolina students as rednecks.

lulz
Do you realize how full of shite you are?
Good gosh y'all deserve what you've got coming.
We've never had such idiot pretentious little fans in this conference as some of y'all appear to be.
But thanks for the late night belly laugh. I think I've just about seen it all now. Yours really sets the new standard for spiking the bullshite meter.

Part of me wants to see this. I am imagining the hardcore Aggy types attempting to interact with the indigenous population of Columbia, South Carolina.

So, no, technically not correct... and technically correct is the best kind of correct. But I'm shocked at the number. That's pretty damn close to what you're suggesting.
I thought you were just spitting in the wind.
Georgia's is also very low. Must either be an accounting thing or a regional difference in something.
