does he really want to be the guy who destroyed the program?

One could argue he was complicit with destroying the university by choosing to side with the players based on a false narrative instead of siding with his employer.

Either way, he certainly had a hand in the problems UM is experiencing right now.

Maybe. He was a damn good coach, and overachieved with a team without SEC caliber talent. He was screwed as soon as boycott started and caught in Catch 22.

he was, he admitted it, inadvertently or otherwise in his final interview, "I've never been fired BEFORE.." he didn't say before now, just before, but it's clear you don't say that if you aren't fired.

He was basically told he was done and allowed to "announce resignation" which helped save MU some money, but also didn't help them save face with the donors who know Pinks needed to be given the boot.

what are there about 7-10 NFL Dlinemen from Mizzou..

"no SEC caliber talent".. lol...

he didn't "overachieve" anything other than being a very average coach whose own stupidity finally caught up with him.

If they kick all of those players off the team how many black players are on Missouri's team this year and in the future? Pinkel's hands were tied.

this is absolutely one of the stupidest and flat out retarded notions the idiots shilling for stinkle and mizzou continue to blather.

only an absolute moron thinks pinks had "no other choice" between going along with his idiot players OR kicking them all out.

complete and utter retardation from a bunch of babbling fools, but they're the type who are mesmerized by a barely average coach thinking he's some sort of "champion".

Lol...please. The 13 team was LOADED. NFL talent all over that roster. Easily a top 10 roster that year. 14 was a top 20 roster as well. The 12 team was also talented enough to compete at a high level, just got destroyed by injuries. 15 we were lacking players on offense, no doubt.

Stars do not equal talent.

If Pinkel hadn't supported his players he would have had trouble ever recruiting again had he stayed. But the administration fricked the whole thing up by not adressing it sooner. Even though it was a lot of PC bullshite the school let it get way out of hand.

Meet with the AD and let him know that he would meet with the whole team and tell them that they had a game Saturday and if anyone missed the game without an excuse would have their locker cleaned out on Sunday. That their name would be turned in to student services as having given up their scoly. If you quit the team you are out.

no, he did not plan to coach through the cancer.

I personally attended his retirement press conference where he said that after being diagnosed he planned to keep coaching through it as long as he felt well.

He told Rhoades in October that he was stepping down at the end of the year. The bullshite happened in November.

Your context that he planned to coach through the cancer was meant to support the theory he was fired. Not only did you use his quote out of context, it's inaccurate. He was not fired, he informed Rhoades he was stepping down a good month before any of this shite went down.

If Mizzou had the balls to fire GP for that nonsense, much respect. He needed to be the adult, not the enabler.

Holy frick! I might agree with arksulli. Except that I think he was stepping down regardless once the lymphoma became an issue. Without the illness, he'd have been back IMO.

But that hiccup aside... totally agree.
