Even though they went to DSU, I vote us and OM each take a 50/50 split of The Weeks.
Those guys own bones.

Long. Apologies.
Athens is the undisputed champ.
Let's keep it going with second tier college bands. This would be bands that killed it at all the college big bars but were not famous or house hold names in spite of some grammy hardware. Here are my recollections from Oxford:
RL. Burnside
Junior Kimbrough
Blue Mountain
Kudzu Kings
The Tangents
Beanland
Jimbo Mathus
North North Mississippi Alstars
Caroline Herring
Bobby Whitlock
Ed Dye and Taylor Grocery Band
Zoogma
The Cooters
The Neckbones
Otha Turner
Shannon McNally
DayBreakdown
Mayhem String Band
Some of these are from close proximity, some have been all over and settled in the the velvet ditch that is Oxford, some share allegiances to Oxford and say Memphis/Delta but one thing is for sure, they all packed it out and have delivered the jams.
I remember several from other towns like Uncle Tupelo, Allgood, Drivin and Cryin, Red Stick Ramblers, Hackensaw boys, etc...

Most around the world would say R.E.M. I feel like Southerners would say DBT or WSP. I know Better than Ezra is from BR and Hootie is from Columbia.
Oh thank God, those bands.
