The way you stop the fake injuries is that you create a rule that, if a player goes down resulting in a stoppage of play, that player must stay on the sidelines for the remainder of the series....or a set number of plays.

It does because in the 250 reply thread about Saban's comments about the hurry up people were actually wondering the actual rule.

It warranted a thread to figure it out - we don't know yet.

Sure. Sounds like a good plan. Who is arguing against that? I just don't get why this has been such a hot topic recently on here.

Drew - if you were faking an injury would you tell the ref?

Why Not?

I thought Saban already had the solution:

As soon as the HUNH team subs, sub everyone, forcing the ref to hold up the play until all substitutions are complete...at least that's what he did in the A&M game.

Because he doesn't need to know.

Would it matter if he did?

Well I don't get it. Faking injuries is bush league. This is football not soccer. Some one said it early in another thread. Get your D in better shape.

Agreed Patton the question is whether it is Legal.

I think where everyone is hung up is that these two comments are not mutually exclusive (they can both be true):

1 - Nobody could ever catch you so why not do it

2- It is illegal

Please quote the rules where lying and/or faking an injury results in a penalty. TIA.

Removing gear on the field is illegal. Taking a dump in your pants is perfectly legal. I suppose if I were trying to argue that something within the rules was illegal, I'd come up with wacky deflections, too.
