Then all a player would need to do is fake an injury. There needs to be incentive for the player to stay, not for the school to put a gun to their head.

I just would like to know what changed for this to suddenly become a "thing?" Non-championship bowl games have always been "meaningless." Might as well start sitting out regular season games as soon as your team is out of contention.

I think it's a combination of CFB players getting more and more fed up with being forced into amateur status for 3 years unlike other sports, and recent injury cases like Lattimore and the kid from ND last year.

If you want to look at it from a monetary standpoint, there is no reason for a bunch of the Bama upperclassmen to play. They already have multiple championships and their draft stock is high.

Key word is other sports. We're not talking about other sports. If they don't like it then don't do it. This is why I don't watch professional sports it's a bunch of over paid cry babies.

Other college students go to 4 years + of college to get the job they want. These athletes are being ridiculous and they need to be grateful that they have the talent other humans don't to be in that position. I guess we should let medical students choose how long they should be in school for.

Walk in any medical school in the country and ask any of the students if they would leave school for a 15 mil signing bonus to start their residency, and see how fast they haul-arse.

Fournetting: (v.) 1. giving up on your teammates; sitting out games. Johnny thought about playing, but changed his mind and decided to fournette the upcoming game.

2. general just giving up. Sammy was working diligently at his new job for months, then all of a sudden he just starting fournetting, and his boss had to fire him.

Fournetting: (v.)Doing the smart thing and setting his little girl up for life and not risking it all for a meaningless exhibition game.

Gumping: (v.) Posting uncontrollably on a site started by another fanbase about a RB that has more yards rushing, in fewer games, at a higher YPC average than any RB from Bama....EVER!

If you had the slightest chance to play in this bowl game, would you?

Honestly if you watched LF7 play at all this year he was injured and it was obvious in the 7 games he played only 1 or 2 was he healthy enough to run full speed. 3 of the 7 games he left the field of play.

With this kind of season and the injury history of his ankle if he is not 100 % he should sit out.

If you have ever had a high ankle sprain then you know it takes months to heal and some times minor surgery is needed. There is not way if I am a coach I would let a player take the field with this young man and the future that is ahead of him.

LF7 signing with an agent and basically quitting school is his decision. Going to school at this point is to set up your future earnings and his future is the NFL making 10s of million dollars or more.

? why are there so many threads about Fournette, do the math and look at his season and the facts are he injured his ankle and it is not worth risking his NFL future to play this meaningless game as far as his career.

Set the record straight playing this game for LSU is not meaningless for the team, recruiting and the fans. LSU needs to win this game and with our RB's we can win without LF7

Jalen Hurd is def. sitting out the bowl for the draft and the only thing hurt on him is his ego/pride. Caff and Fournette have been beat up all year tho. ;-)

Not to be a 1 upper but yes I know what it is like. I was in the military and fell off a helicopter in 2007. Had a surgery where they put screws in bent. Had another surgery to correct it. Deployed in 2010 and ran on it for 4 years after. Just had a very in depth operation in 2014 and looking at ankle replacement surgery. Guess what missed a deployment in 2008 but went on the one in 2010. I loved the military and I wanted to deploy. That was for pennies and no one knows my name. Fournette will be fine in his future.

LF did a lot for LSU, but LSU did a lot for him too. It would have been nice to see him play for LSU. Reminds me of Ben Simmons.

What happens when LSU gets beat and your fanbase blames him? If you guys get beat it's going to happen

Fournette hasn't been close to 100% all season and said he wouldn't be but about 85% by the bowl game, which is why he's not going to risk delaying his rehab, again, to play when he's not 100%. And right now, I'd take a 100% Derrius Guice over an 85% Leonard Fournette.

I don't think anyone begrudges him not playing. But what was the compelling urgency to sign with an agent? He couldn't wait one week?

I remember a lot of LSU fans laughing at A&M fans over the JFF quote how he couldn't wait to get out of College Station. Now they are doing all kinds of mental gymnastics to excuse LF's rapid departure.
