And on the upshot Dooley did beat botch by three TD's.

And didn't lose to our putrid 4-8 team by 14.

That was a good read. Derek obviously wasn't cut out for a job at a big time program. To be fair, Tennessee didn't have much of a choice unless they wanted a returning assistant serving as an interim, which would've been for the best in hindsight.

His biggest mistakes were alienating himself from former players and hiring Sunseri to coach the defense. The offseason prior to 2012 couldn't have been handled any worse by him.

but do not slur the good name of Arkansas and imply that Dooley was a worse hire then John L. "Smile" Smith.

He had the same number of SEC wins in 1 year as a glorified interim coach as Bert has in two full seasons.

John L. Smith. tGOAT Arkansas coach.

Derek Dooley was the most awesome coach UT ever had. Everybody except UT fans loved him. Why on earth would Vol Nation continue to pretend he wasn't? Insecurity? Irrational fear? Despair?

OMG! Sunseri was a nightmare.

Dooley also ignored recruiting. Did not recruit a single O-lineman one year. That is SEC suicide.

I remember Dooley's mom getting on Finebaum bitching about coaches not getting enough time. If DD wasn't an example of white privilege, IDK what is. He was only giving the job because of his dad.

Actually, and I hate to say this because I genuinely admire him as a great coach, he was given the job in a large part because of Saban's recommendation.

The stupidity of Mike Hamilton.

Saban also talked about the great job Dooley had done for us.

So coach Saban effectively ruined Tennessee? He put the final nail in Phil's coffin, got them to hire dools, sent MH to run the AD and for shits and giggles sent them Sunseri to ruin the defense? LOL. What it really was, was little bro wanted to ride the tides coattails and almost ruined their athletic department.
Sad, isn't it?

If you want top flight facilities, he's your man. If you want top flight coaches, he's the last man you want.

Amirite?

Dead on the mark.

He is a fund raiser, not an AD.

Those pants were supposedly tailored at like $1800 a pair or some outrageous number.

Tennessee pulled the trigger and fired Dooley way too soon. He turned LaTech around and could have pulled it off in Knoxville if given a little more time. It's why your program is still in the shitter to this very day.
