If Mitch doesn't come out of this as the starter or backup I think he transfers. I just don't see him accepting being buried on the depth chart after all the hype he had in HS.

Today I'd guess:
1. McIlwain
2a/b. Orth/Nunez
3. Scarnecchia

Haven't heard much about Nunez's passing this spring but I really hope he can challenge for the job rather than switching to WR. He showed some promise thrown in there as a true freshman.

Mitch is the one I look to possibly transfer as well ... unless he really gets his confidence back somehow and gets over his gunshyness. I mean, he has the physical tools, he just does not appear to have the mental tools to deal with the position at this level.

Boom needs to maybe tone it down a notch in the Spring I'm thinkin' - although, on the other hand, neither of those guys were gonna start IMHO

I would think he needed to tone it down, but, as bad as the defense was last year I don't think he should. I hate it for Orth, he's a great kid, but maybe this is a sign that the defense reemerging. They are no longer the soft asses they have been the last two seasons.

I really thought Mitch would of transferred to another program, maybe a smaller school, after the season. He was Spurrier's guy and without him there there was no reason for him to stay. As for him transferring this summer it is a likely possibility but I think he missed his window to go to another big program by not leaving last semester.

Wanted to give it a shot with the new coaching staff first. No reason to blindly transfer when you've got as good a chance as anybody at impressing the staff and starting in the SEC. If he can't win it this year, however, he never will.

muschamp is doing it wrong.

Congrats south carolina. Enjoy your reward

Our defense is going to be fine under Boom ... it's our offense I'm somewhat concerned about, especially if we start losing too many players in the Spring.

On the other side of the coin is the fact that, perhaps, Spurrier was too gentile with them in the Spring.

It's typically the offensive guys who suffer the most injuries in the Spring - so he'll need to accept that fact, (and I think he would given what happened to him at Florida), and make adjustments.

He cannot afford to be hard-headed about that.

FWIW I was told that Orth's injury did not occur because of a vicious hit ... more about how he fell on his shoulder, and that everyone was told to ease up on the QBs afterwards.

Players hated seeing Orth go down.

I tried to warn their fans but most of them just laughed at the thought of Nunez not being very good.

You're wrong, for sure.

But we might make a wager on it if you'd like ... if you're willing to put something where your mouth is, slick.

Nunez is going to be a good ballplayer for us ... somewhere, sooner rather than later.

We're still lulzing at you ... especially now that you actually see Orth going-down as some kind of sign regarding mUSChamp, or that you were correct.

I'm correct. He was fired for sucking. Maybe that will change.

Your switch to a Muschamp fan is admirable though.

Happy Easter!

Orth was probably set-up by Boom to take this lick today .... a game kid, former walk on, he'll be a great coach one day but he is not big game QB material.

Big game? He couldn't beat the Citadel. Sorry the young man got hurt, but I couldn't imagine having to sit through another year with him starting.

Some qb made a game winning pass vs the citadel. Not the qb's fault for the penalty.

I've always been somewhat of a mUSChamp fan ... not necessarily as a head coach but definitely as a motivator and DC.

As far as my feelings toward him during the coaching search ... it had nothing to do with his Florida stint, I actually thought he got a raw deal at Florida. It had more to do with gossip I was hearing given that he had taken the Auburn DC job rather than coming here when he had the chance ... it was generally assumed that he had dissed us.

Late in the process, once mUSChamp became a viable candidate, Spurrier came forward and admitted that it was not mUSChamp that had dissed us but rather it was he, himself, who had decided against Boom out of loyalty to Whammy Ward. Spurrier admitted that he just assumed Boom was going to take the Auburn job so he used that as an excuse to not pursue him in a rigorous fashion ... I think his exact words were that he did not want to upset the apple cart and that he felt he had a good team and solid staff returning.

My comment regarding Kiffin and Muschamp were based on two entirely different set of circumstances.

Kiffin is just a douchebag and I knew our BoTs and Tanner would never entertain the thought of even interviewing him unless they had to, as an EEOC requirement.

Muschamp though, that was based on rumblings about him having dissed us and Spurrier made sure to clear that up when the time came.

Am I a fan of mUSChamps now, as our head coach? I dunno if I would call it that ... but I am a glass half full kinda fan and I like how hard he is working and how much energy and enthusiasm he has brought with him. I like the staff he hired, from top to bottom. He brings a lot of youthful energy, good recruiters, saved our signing class when we were backed into a corner. So he's earned some credits for his basket.

How he well he does as a gameday coach is yet to be seen here ... only time will tell. I am hopeful that he learned some valuable lessons while at Florida and that those lessons pay off for us here at SCAR.

He got an extra year to fix it. How could anyone say he got a raw deal when he had 4 years instead of the three he deserved?

Two of his former QBs will be drafted by the NFL. Both of them transferred from UF.

He created his own mess.
