In the early 90s Legion Field capacity was just over 83k but they took out upper decks about 10 years ago after Bama stopped playing there and code compliance

What was the tie-breaker that got LSU in over them?

We beat them. In Oxford.

Legion Field was 83k+ prior to Alabama moving all of its home games to Tuscaloosa. The city of Birmingham reduced capacity after 2003.

There have been 6 rematches in the SEC Championship game. The winner of the first game is 5-1 in the rematch, the only exception being Tennessee losing to LSU in 2001, which cost them a national title game appearance.

Very nice. Not sure if I'm surprised that there are been more or less rematches. Still can't believe Florida and LSU have not met in Atlanta.

For how good LSU and Florida are.. Both teams are rarely SECCG good in the same season.

2001, 2006, and 2012 are really the only chances they've had.

How many matchups featured a rematch of a game from earlier in that year? I know AU and USCe is one.

LSU got a MULLIGAN against Tennessee in 2001. Tennessee won the fricking conference when they beat UF in the last week of the season. Still had a better record that the coonnasses. We should claim that conference title.

It was a miracle that Tennessee even beat UF.

UF wins that game 99/100 times.

Florida destroys Tennessee if that game is played in September.

And LSU doesn't make the 2001 SECCG if September 11th doesn't happen.

In a way 9/11 made LSU what it is today.

Spoken like someone who didn't watch the game. I think Grossman still has Henderson and Haynesworth's toe nails stick in his anus.

Someone please explain the 2003 Ole Miss thing to me.

As posted earlier, Ole Miss was Co-champions with LSU. The tie breaker is head to head which was won by LSU. The SEC does allow co-champions to both claim the title, but there isn't a self-respecting school that would claim a title not actually won straight up on the field. However, we are talking about Ole Miss, the kings of phantom titles.

At least we are relevant in SECCG conversations! For many years we had no stats or anything to mention about in that game.

Please elaborate. I was 9 so I have no recollection of what you are referring to football-wise

How would you know? state college has never been in a position to claim a co-championship. You sh!t on a co-championship with a 7-1 record, but still bask in the glory of a west title at 5-3, 10 seconds from being 4-4 in the weakest season of SEC ball since the championship game started. ~middle finger in the air~

Then we can have 85 and 90 since we won those on the field.
