Ok, his comments were directed at the media, mostly. But they were also directed at the institution, read "Frank".
Your average fan only heard the soundbites that ran on tv, and it definitely came off as a big to the program.
Nolan was not a sympathetic character back then, partially due to his portrayal by those same media members at the time.
As for the fans "changing" or "turning on people", etc yeah, Frank isn't held in the same esteem as he once was. More information is available than there used to be. His legacy is tarnished.
That's not due to fans being "fickle", its called adjusting your opinion based on new information.
That's what people capable of critical thought do every single day.

When I went to SMS as a student working for the FB team we were basically Arkansas Light. We had Jesse, Riley, Dameron, Bond, Mason, Wommack, Vaught, Bud, and 8 players from NWA. So it was comfortable, but we all had one thing in common; we all felt disrespected by someone in the U of A Ath Department.

Doesn't Dean work in real estate now anyway?

ESPN did do a good job in bringing up some things about the 93/94 tournament that have been forgotten.
One was how "disrespected" Arkansas was in the rankings all season long, this followed into the tourney when Arkansas was the number1 seed, but no one gave them a chance past the sweet 16.
Then all the BS about Duke being superior due to intelligence and that would be why they would win.
Nolan lashed out at the media post game, he even went as far as calling out one of CBS' guys who publicly apologized for his comments.

No he works in the Athletic Department. He is in charge of Equipment. Chuck Hall answers to him supposedly. Which is a joke, because Chuck was a GA under the guy other than Jeff Boss who I consider my mentor Shorty Klienau. Chuck was placed at Louisville by Shorty when Petrino was a coach there and did a hell of a job. He deserves to be where he is.

Those media heads talking about how "smart" Duke was compared to "dumb" Arkansas certainly came off as racially biased in the show. I liked how Nolan said he knew they considered his style "N-word ball". That was true, and is still true in some circles. I had a friend whose dad referred to Nolan's team as the Razor-blacks.

White was the only administrator from the pre-Long era quoted in the documentary.

I think white technically had to "fire" Nolan. It was interesting how Frank was nowhere to be seen. Not a single soundbite. Didn't want to open that door...

It will be interesting ho0w people outside of Arkansas view this. Bo will be in spin mode Monday, I bet. I think they did a helluva job on it though. I just am glad they didnt hit the 1996-2000 years too much and focused on 93-94.

This was 3 years after Duke was blown out by a UNLV team that had no players on their roster who turned down academic admission into the elite colleges across the country, if you know what I mean...
I know they won the revenge game a year later.
I'm glad they told the Larry Johnson "Get you some mens" story, I'm glad they did not show Day's attempt of throwing a punch that same game.
As far as "N-word Ball", Nolan heard that his first year and through out his career from members of the media, administration, and some fans.
Imagine Frank Broyles showing up at practice, watching them practice, then handing Nolan a sheet of paper with plays drawn on it and Frank telling him he should give up this " ball" and run these plays if he wants to win...

Wasnt Johnson signed by SMU then had to go to JUCO?

Pretty sure Nolan still can't stand Frank. I don't know Bo's position or loyalties. I guess I never pay attention to him much.
I hate to say it, but TJ Carpenter is becoming my favorite sports radio guy.

TJ bugs me a lot. I am not sure what he is trying to accomplish sometimes. I like TJ personally, but he goes on the retarded rant too often. I give TJ credit though he goes finds people that disagree with him at times for guests, at least.

He started out really aping Colin Cowherd.
He's a kid, though. He will get better.

They should have, they could have mentioned the scholarship reductions and hand-checking rule change and how it effected Nolan's style.
A whole new documentary would be needed to go over the Jesse Pate and Sunday Adebayo situation, this set the program back more than anything with Nolan not being allowed to recruit JUCOs for a period.
Nolan had some serious talent waiting to join the team in 03, I believe he close to again being in a position to get back to the mountain top...

I think you have a good "handle" on the situation. I have to agree.

Bill Clinton was on there for probably 5 minutes worth. Not 30 seconds of Frank.

TJ sometimes gets into the Nolan Mike convo and forgets that his callers know more about it than he does, just because they were around when it was happening.
