It's got to be Dante Fowler Jr from Florida. That dude has been a gamechanger.

It's Clowney, #1 Overall, no matter what happens.

true...though that isn't what the OP asked

Chris smith is an absolute beast. He was a pretty highly recruited kid as well if I remember correctly. our kid with the biggest potential is philon. Holy shite he's going to be good, so glad bama ran out of scholarships for him.
You're thinking of Darius Philon and neither of them were that highly recruited. It's surprising how much Smith was overlooked, but they considered him too thin and apparently didn't want to mess with bulking him up.

Deatrich Wise is making good use of the time he's getting as a backup too
I vote Wise the best dancer, too. Glad he got to show those skills in his start against A&M.

I like Trey Flowers more than I like Chris Smith because flowers is much better against the run. Smith is prety one intentional I mean it's a great fvcking dimension lol, but still. A legit tackle and push smith around on a running play. that ain't happening with flowers.

Leading defensive stats usually means your defense can't get off the field.

No
You must not follow recruiting at all
Philon was committed to Bama for the entire process. Auburn wanted him.
Chris Smith was down to us and Penn State.

He hasn't performed well enough this year to be top 5 best in the SEC for DLinemen.
But for the the 2nd part of the OP he's Definitely #1 disappointment and if continues with the sub par performance he will play himself out of the top 5 in the draft.

Clowney has still been pretty disruptive despite the double teams when you go back and watch the replays. He's also had 2 or 3 opportunities where he got right into the back field, but couldn't finish the play. He doesn't look quite the same so far. Last year, he gets a piece of their jersey and jerks them down. I think he's as frustrated as he looks out there. Lawing's departure was a huge blow.
As a result, Florida's line has looked great regardless of how much talent they have. The guy from Kentucky has been pretty impressive as well. Haven't seen any Arky games yet, but those guys are putting up good numbers.

Yea, I know all that. I missed the mention of Philon's name and thought he was talking about Chris Smith, who received a late offer from Penn State, after he was already committed to us.

JD Clowney is still the guy getting double and triple teamed on every down. That alone answers the question.
No flops that I've seen from anyone around the league IMHO. It's a stout year for DLinemen in the SEC.
