And come December the current starters and backups will be able transfer and play immediately.

I think OM will get 25 Schollies over 4 years and a two year bowl ban. They'll have other stuff too like vacating wins and probation for 5 years. I was told that this was what some on inside were pushing for (as I have stated before).

It's what the investigators want, but not necessarily the COI. Investigators want show causes for Freeze and Farrar as well.

The COI may not concur. I doubt they just rubber stamp since it's a complicated case.

Punishment should come out a week or 2 after.

Given the number of charges, it will probably take longer than a couple of weeks. More likely to be a month or more.

Yes. You can read it here.

It is devastating.

What is everyone's honest opinion of them choosing 9/11 to have the meeting? I think they could have decided on a different day...I mean, come on.

Are we really supposed to shut down the country on dates of tragic events? If so, prepare to add about 100+ holidays

Ole Miss may appeal anything over their self-imposed penalties just to give their new coach and staff a better option in their first recruiting class.

I think this only happens if they have a coach in place. Better to know the sanctions and move forward.

Billy, your coaches (Freeze/Farrar) lied, falsified, and at times completely circumvented your own Compliace Department in order to keep their Booster/Player/Recruit operation in place.

The Head Coach and the Assistant Athletic Director were at the core of recruiting. If Bruce Pearl received a 3 yr show cause along with 3 of his asst coaches for lying about a BBQ, and Jim Tressel received a 5 year show cause for failure to report impermissible benefits to his compliance dept over some tattoos, then Freeze and Farrar most assuredly deserve show causes as well.

They were running and pre-planned, systematic operation and the NCAA wanted to show that there was a completely organized/structured plan in place that spanned multiple recruiting classes, over a dozen Boosters, dozens of student-athletes and nearly half of Freezes coaching staff. Show causes will be handed out like cookies & juice at Vacation Bible School.

Oh yeah I agree Freeze and Barney will get show causes - seems almost certain.

Neither is really my concern though. It basically just comes down to whether or not the COI wants to punish the Ole Miss Program further than it already punished itself.

Ole Miss offered up 15 of the 21 violations willingly. They forfeited a bowl and $8M on their own. They restricted recruiting unofficial visit on their own. They suspended Tunsil for 7 games for a loaner car. If this strategy doesn't work and COI does what Sheridan prescribes, I guarantee no school will ever cooperate with the NCAA again .

Hell, most OM fans think the Auburn esque "screw you, prove it" approach was the best bet from the get go.

Did the NCAA force Ole Miss to suspend Tunsil? Did they force Ole Miss to give up $8M in revenue? Did they force Ole Miss to reduce scholarships? Did they force Ole Miss to give up recruiting visits last year?

Ole Miss could've said screw you, prove it. SEC schools have gone that path before.

Your Ole Miss obsession is tremendous btw, I salute you

However, under new penalty matrix, they could have all of their schollies taken over 4 years if all Level 1s stick.

I'm agreeing with everything but the scholarships. From the matrix and reply from the NCAA, I'm guessing 35-45 over 4 to 5 years. There have been many coaches speaking off record about this matter from other coaches in and outside the SEC saying the NCAA better hammer Ole Miss well or the gloves are off on recruiting tactics if blantant cheating like this does not get punished.

According to OM fans, the NCAA is on life support and will simply accept the self imposed sanctions----if they know what's good for them.

Yes. The NCAA will be brought to it's knees by the mighty University of Mississippi. It's just not possible for these carpetbagging NCAA vigilantes to pass judgment on a school so rich in tradition and among the elite in college athletics.
