AU should rack up some yards rushing Saturday. Such a talented backfield. I think they'll lean on that early, keep the tempo up to keep LSU on their heels. Seems like the only way to go. They're certainly not about to ask JJ to win the game for them at this juncture unless they're playing catchup.

The biggest issue is that he has a predetermined throw pre-snap and is not reading coverages or going through progressions. I think he just was fortunate that his pre determined receiver was usually open or made a play in the past.
sounds like jordan jefferson. strong arm and a big guy that runs well. except instead of holding onto the ball way too long and getting sacked, johnson throws interceptions. still too early to write him off at this point. but i did think the massive amount of hype he was receiving coming into the season was premature. just like with dobbs.

I think a mix of poor coaching and a lack of focus. IMO it's too early to completely write him off, because of the raw talent, but he better find his stride in a hurry.

He is 4-0 as a starter, but something is definitely off.
His 5 INT can not be explained, but he also can make some very good throws.

Part of this past weekend was that his receivers decided to take a Saturday off and not run their routes, but the poor reads have to stop. That is all coaching.

Auburn's offensive scheme has been built on the read option the last few years. That forced secondaries to respect the run more and often put them out of position in pass defense. The Qb didn't have to sit back and read defenses as much and many of the throws could be predetermined. Now, there is a different scheme in place that relies on a less mobile Qb with a better arm. It doesn't look to me like Malzahn has spent nearly enough time teaching his Qbs how to read coverages.

Kiehl Frazier has been giving him choking lessons. We fricked.

This is what I also think. JJ looks soft when he runs the ball. I saw him on a least one occasion when he pulled it down and ran with it. He liked about two maybe three yards of picking up a first down and did a ninety degree turn left instead of using that big frame and lowering his head and getting what he could. He doesn't seem as quick to keep it like NM would. Without that threat AU will have a hard time just lining up and running it. IMO.

Was just listening to Russillo and Kannell. Kannell said Charlie Ward threw 8 picks his first two starts at FSU. Said the only reason he wasn't benched is because Kannell was the back up and he was a freshman. I'm not comparing JJ to Ward, but this is shows that throwing picks in your first two starts isn't a death sentence.

Agreed. He'll get better. I have serious doubts that it will happen in TS in Week 3, though.
