I didn't say he was. All I've said was that he'd be solid and better than JPW and through 3 games, he has been statistically. I never touted him as being then end all be all, like some did for theirs, who some want replaced by J Lee.

Yeah, mega thanks to the many Bama fans that told us how horrible Jake Locker is. Yall really nailed that one.

But seriously. He played pretty good against a good ACC team and blew out two cupcakes. How can you honestly say "yeah we were right, the verdicts out and McElroy is awesome."

Good passes are good passes. Virginia Tech just showed he could handle the pressure of a game and in the pocket.

We, Alabama fans were right about McElroy, but many fans were right for the wrong reasons(being a homer or whatnot) and just pointed at his stats rather than the way he played. Heck, even Jonathon Crompton can rack up stats, but players like him lack the intangibles of a good QB that wins big games.

PS: At this rate, we are so torching the Arkansas secondary next week.

To be fair many of us were saying 'wait and see'.. and that attitude is still the correct one.

He's showed shite tons of potential though.

I'll reserve from making judgements about him until he's had some SEC games under his belt. Not a hit at him, but that's just the best way to accurately asses him

But after 3 games I'd say he has some great weapons around him to help make him look good

exactly. I am still undecided.

He has yet to play in an opponent's home stadium, and his 1 game against a solid team his QB rating was below JPW's rating for the 2008 season.

Check back in a month.

why are you getting so worked up over someone's opinion? Its not like that notion is completely over the top.

McElroy has looked great since half time in the Va Tech game. His stats should be even beter if julio and dial could catch td passes. I watched jpw for three years and McElroy is way better. Moves in the pocket better, throws the deep ball better, and spreads it out to different receivers better.

Folks here will never give Bama credit for anything. Ever.

Look, its not about credit, its about common sense. He has looked real good, but...there are questions. Va. Tech is good but not great and the other two teams were just plain awful. He hasn't had any real pressure. It isn't hard to make throws when you never get touched. Lets see what he does when he has a few blitzes in his face. So far though, pretty damn good.

Jees it cant be any worse than Wilson did especially against Utah. Just chunking the ball down the field doesnt work.

True, JPW did a poor job against the Utes. But again, this guy hasn't been on the road and has basically played touch football. He has the tools, but he still needs to be tested. Great numbers so far though.

I think Greg McElroy will be a much better QB that JPW ever was. JPW managed the game very well but his talent was mediocre at best. I don't know what kind GMac will but he is managing well and he's much more accurate than JPW. Next week will tell alot against our first SEC opponent. Ask this question again in a couple of weeks. I was also pleased with Star Jackson yesterday. Just glad he got to get a bit of experience.
