Beat vandy with Cincy. That should tell you what our roster was made up with before he was able to bring in his guys.

I think Gruden would be a serious candidate this go around. I didn't believe it last time, but I think the UT boosters would be willing to basically break out the dump truck if Butch Jones doesn't work out.
Vol fans will hate me for this, but if Franklin does well at Penn State, I could see Tennessee offering him a whole hell of a lot of money should Jones fall flat on his face.
For the record, I think Butch will be fine this year and next. He's a good coach -- maybe not great, but if he keeps recruiting at this level, whatever mistakes he makes as a coach will be hidden by the talent.

Perfect description for Butch. He can recruit, but put him in a big game situation and he's throwing tantrums on the sideline.
The end of the Florida game last year is one of the most pathetic coaching displays I've ever seen.

No one at all post-this season CBJ still has a lot of leeway and goodwill. Although, his seat will start to get warm if things go too South.

The same Cincy team that beat Vandy in the Liberty Bowl 31-24 lost to UT 45-23. Vandy lost to UT in OT that year. I'm not sure the results of those 3 games tell us anything about UT's roster being soooo much worse than Cincy's roster that year. Hell, head to head, Butch Jones got smashed by Derek Dooley. I'm not saying Dooley is a better coach than Jones. I'm just pointing out that Jones beating Vandy with Cincy while being 1-1 against Vandy is not really a good indicator of how bad the UT roster was when he got there.
