Ole miss fans are more pissed about this Simmons deal than the Ban-hammer coming their way.

Kids enrol with misdemeanors on their record all the damn time. Do you think the school should start kicking people out everytime they get a DUI or an MIP?

Are you serious Clark? Or are you taking the Ole Miss approach that a year in JUCO or sitting out due to the transfer rule is an appropriate punishment? To my point in the other thread, a year at JUCO didn't seem to do much to change him.

Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor has been dismissed from the team after he was arrested again on domestic violence charges in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

"

Representing this University is a privilege that none of us can take for granted," Alabama athletic director Bill Battle said in a statement. "As I noted in my comments when the decision was made to allow Jonathan Taylor to attend the University on a football scholarship, I believe in second chances. I still do.

"

However, being successful in that second chance requires responsibility and accountability. In Jonathan's situation, the University and the Department of Athletics set forth very clear standards of accountability and expectations of conduct.

Jonathan was afforded a chance to successfully overcome the difficulties that resulted in his departure from the University of Georgia. Unfortunately, it appears that he was unable to do so, in spite of extensive efforts to assist him."

quote:

Saban and Battle both said Taylor warranted a second chance when he signed in January as part of the Crimson Tide's 2015 class. On signing day, Saban called it a "university decision" and said it was determined "that he was the kind of guy that deserved a second chance."

Taylor had been kicked off the Georgia Bulldogs football team in July after being arrested on a charge of felony aggravated assault and family violence. Police said he struck his girlfriend with a closed fist and choked her during an argument at Taylor's dormitory room. That case is still pending.

He also was one of four Georgia players arrested last March for receiving double payments for checks of $71.50 issued by the school's athletic department.

quote:

Taylor spent last fall at Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College and enrolled at Alabama in January, which caused a stir nationally.

quote:

Taylor's arrest came just hours after Alabama defensive back Geno Smith was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Saturday morning, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office website.

Miss St has to accept players like that

Jevonte Domond says hello...

"LSU offensive lineman Jevonte Domond is no longer suspended despite a pending charge of battery and domestic abuse, head coach Les Miles said on Wednesday according to The Times-Picayune.

“He’s in position to compete to play,” Miles said. “We’re letting the disposition of whatever entanglement he’s involved in run its course. He’s not suspended.”"

You really aren't comprehending that it wasn't the university's place to punish him at all.

Dude, there is video freaking evidence of this 280 beast pummeling a girl. And you're saying it's not in y'alls place to punish him?

If it's not in y'alls place then why even give him the one game ban?

I didn't say he shouldn't be punished, I'm not a judge, it isn't for me to decide. If our criminal justice system has issued its punishment then that is sufficient for me.

It's our job to rehabilitate him and make him a better person, if a suspension is part of that then ok. But any suspension should be handed out as a method to rehabilitate, not to punish.

I assume you'd say the same about a 3* kicker?
