To be unbiased here, bench press has nothing to do with the throwing motion. His squat is not bad which has more to do with throwing than the big chest muscles.

Johnny Manziel wasn't very strong. A lot of great QBs aren't strong. Drew Brees, Manning, Brady. Manning doesn't even look like he does bench press, honestly.

There's no way I out bench someone who's playing football for a D1 university.

I started lifting a week ago for the first time in literally 20 years and was benching 210 with 10 reps. A college athlete that has been groomed his whole life should easily match me.

I hope no one is claiming that the chest muscles mean better passing, I think people are just a little shocked at someone who works out for a living(I know he is young), only benches 180

And I guess we just assume the 180 bench is a fact right now...couldn't possibly be before his junior year high school could it???

Texas does take high school football seriously. Kyle Allen is from Arizona.

I'll play devil's advocate and assume his bench numbers are low.
You can bet the true freshman will better his weight room performance moving forward.
That said, his skill set (physical and mental) on the field during spring ball was enough to make me grin.

It's a mystery what folks saw when they ranked Kyle the nation's top QB prospect.

I agree, I saw him in some all star game and I wasn't impressed.

OK? I work outside but I haven't lifted weights since high school and I graduated in 96. We had 4 45s on it the other day and went back with a pair of 10s on each side so that was actually 220. It was on a machine that you put weights on, not an adjustable machine.

Yeah, the rating sites forgot to poll the random internet poster evaluation, obviously he isn't as good as advertised because a couch QB from arkansas isn't impressed.
