Takes more than one season to grant or revoke Big 6 status.
Tennessee should be placed on public probation.
Florida should be on secret probation.
UGA should be on double-secret probation.

Depends on how you view the 6
Yearly six stays at six
Long term six stays at six
7 is not the new 6 no matter what folks say

I'm sorry, but Florida's basketball program and overall sports program shield's them from probation, regardless of Jeff Driskel and Will Muschamp.

6 is only the name of the group, it doesnt necessarily signify the quantity. Kind of like the big 10 and big 12

NCs are the only measure of relevance. Ours was a while back, but 16 years more relevant than UGA's.
Tennessee is in.
Their NC was in the BCS era with a true national championship game. We can bitch about them, but they can't be taken out.
UGA in the 80's is up for discussion.

Here lies the dilemma, UGA has SEC championships since UT's

To me the Big-6 is the six schools that have won a National Championship in the modern era, while representing our conference.
UGA winning the SEC doesn't impress anyone. Heck, the game is played in their state. Win it all if you want to sit at the table of six.

UGA hasn't won a title since Jimmy Carter

But do they have a National Championship since UT's?
The answer is a big, fat, frick NO.
There is no dilemma, and besides, State is not going to win the National Championship.
NCs are the measure, period.

Depends if we're going by "most recent" SEC title, or total SEC titles.
If we look at totals, then the Big 6 are:
Alabama - 23
Tennessee - 13
Georgia - 12
LSU - 11
Florida - 8
Auburn - 8
(Just outside)
Ole Miss - 6
Most recent:
Auburn - 2013
Alabama - 2012
LSU - 2011
Florida - 2008
Georgia - 2005
Tennessee - 1998
No other teams have won it in the division era. The last team outside of the Big 6 to win it was Ole Miss in 1963.
That said, it's hard to not think of it as a Big 3 in terms of recent history (Alabama [2009, 2012], Auburn [2010, 2013] and LSU [2011] own the last 5 titles).

I am the motherfricking authority here, and I say that's the measure.

I wanted to say Florida, but the way they've nose dived since the end of 2009 is difficult. 2009 was a great year for them, but the loss in the SECCG followed by graduation, Urban leaving, and you have a team that hasn't been nearly on par with their previous 5 years.

If we are going by the LIFO principle, then clearly UF gets the boot if Moo State replaces anyone. UF wasn't even on the radar of the big 6 until the 90s.

btw, Moo State will be back to battling to stay out of the SECW cellar next year.

Florida is in. Period.
You can't write them off the history book. They dominated the conference and the nation in the 90's then came back and won the National Championship in this decade. Every one in the Big-6 is allowed to have bad seasons. Florida has earned their spot by winning a national title for our conference.
It's becoming obvious that some people in this thread don't understand what the Big-6 is.
