So I just watched the Butch Jones show.

It came on after a replay of Kansas and Iowa State game. Dude looks like he hasn't slept in a week or so. I felt pity watching a defeated man that knows he is about to be fired and knowing his best didn't cut it at a big time football school. I believe he put maximum effort into turning the corner but his best wasn't good enough. I think he will be much better at a smaller program with lowered expectations.

He got them to turn a corner at least. Butch took them from dumpster fire to average. UT fans don't like average but the program is way more stable than when he took over.

I've always wondered how many people on here are posting from the local library. Lot of people on at all times of the day. Could be OT ballers passing the time on the private jet too I guess.

They aren't a dumpster fire anymore. Butch has been taking them to mid level bowl games and has had winning seasons, hence average. Before they were dropping further down into the East cellar. Things just seem messy right now cause he lost to USC and Vols fans want his head.

It's not the USC loss, it's the skunked by Georgia. It's the barely got a win over 0-5 UMass.
It's the team last year that didn't quit versus the team this year's team that has not got the play-to-the-end-of-the-game feel.
It's not seeing development in players.
It's feeling sick before the Alabama game and knowing it's several months too late to do anything to improve the team.

A lot of the issues this season is UT has no QB...When a QB can't make throws and the defense stops the run you are in a world of shite. The defense hangs in there for a while but the 3 and outs takes it toll after a while.
Butch has I'm the smartest guy in the room syndrome and he honestly believes the shite that comes out of his mouth and arse. Promoting his TE coach to OC is his undoing. Butch isn't going to hire somebody that's smarter than him or somebody that wants to tweak his 'Infallible' system.
He worked hard and gave his all....He's just not cut out for big boy football. Most saw that in the 2015 season...most everybody else except folks that know little about football found it out in the 2016 season. Also at Central Michigan and Cincinnati he delt with mostly 2 stars and some 3 stars....He has ZERO idea how to handle 4 and 5 star athletes. BYE BUTCH.

OP is right. Job is too big for BJ. He spent more time making excuses in his tenure at Tennessee than he did coaching.
BJs problem is his basic psychological approach to coaching. He's a glass is half empty guy hoping for the best. You need a glass is half full confident he will win guy. BJ can't cut that mustard.
