We lost a ton of games by 5-8 points...under Ray. This team was playing with little to no confidence before the conference schedule even started. Coaching, and actual fan support will make a big difference with how they play next year.

I cannot stress enough Ben Howland has NEVER proven to be a miracle worker, it takes time.

You also lost 9 games by double digits.

I agree coaching will make a big difference.

Instead of losing by 5-8 with a chance in each game, you will be losing by 13-15 with a feeling of no chance in the game the way Howlandball is played.

MSU's problem was Depth, not talent, not coaching, not fan support. IT all started with the way Stansburry was fired.

Rick Ray was given a very bad hand and was not given a fair chance to correct it which he was on his way to doing.

You understand losing 9 MORE games by double digits is terrible, right?

We lost 1 game all season by double digits.

I have no idea why you are trying to single out only 9 losses by being by "less than 9 points" when you lost the other half by 10+

I've been watching our teams for many years, and our coaching sucked badly in the latter part of the season. Our second half play was atrocious and lost us many games.

Are you trying to imply that Rick Ray>Ben Howland? Ray just made 4 mil for going 37-60, he'll sleep just fine tonight.

No, what we're saying and Ben has proved and over and over at every stop is he doesnt turn a bad team into a decent one even in year 1. It has taken him multiple years at every stop.

Yeah I get it. I just don't see a losing season next year.

Even if Ray came back next year, I still think we would be a .500 team.

Howland has coached a losing season at each his first 3 stops in the first year, dont be surprised. Not saying it will or wont, in fact I could see MSU as a .500 ish type team, but it could easily bounce slightly one way or the other.

Zuppardo was the critical missing piece this season. He would have been our perimeter shooter. I don't know if he stays for his Sr season or if he'll ever be 100 percent again, but he can play. Possibly one of Ray's best gets during his tenure and he got hurt.
