OP, stop and think about your recruiting angle you're pushing.
You are not playing any extra games in Texas. You already played A&M in Dallas every year. Nothing has changed!
When you were in the SWC half your conference games were in Texas. OU has 1-3 games in Texas every year. That's why they pull Texas kids (and they are good)
You have no reason to be optimistic. Your program killing move to the SEC has not been reversed.

Our end of year game with LSU isn't going to be moved for tu. We'll play them early in the season or on another open week.
They now play a small texas school of their choosing at home every thanksgiving. That's what they think is a great tradition that everyone cares about. Its all part of their mistaken belief they are a national program. They want a home game every thanksgiving because they think that's what made the rivalry with A&M, namely them. That's fine. They are marginalizing themselves.

So Arkansas covets a Thanksgiving Day game with a team they are 21-56 against because it will help recruiting in that team's home state.

Well. Sumlin has certain places around the nation he focuses on, but I hope we get the best Texas talent as well.

Agreed. Which is why Aggies are very silly to hate the Jerry World game, imo. They have too narrow of a focus, and don't realize that that game might not bring as much direct return for the program on the surface that a home game represents, but it is invaluable to have an annual SEC game at the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Of the utmost importance, imo. Supposedly Sumlin and company don't feel like they need a game in Dallas, but Slive and Loftin felt differently. I'm incredibly excited a brand new 10 year deal was inked at Jerry World. A necessary move, imo.

Agreed. This helps you with recruiting Dallas suburbanites, which is good for your school.

I think Pinkel shifting his recruiting focus from Texas to Georgia was sort of a mistake. He should focus on being the Midwest's outlet to the SEC.

It was actually more of the other way around. Not all games were televised back then, and programs like Oklahoma really benefited from being able to sell Texas kids on a "National Schedule", where as Arkansas was only ever televised on Texas televisions. This really perpetuated itself later in to the 80s, and Arkansas, was sick of competing with Oklahoma for Texas kids.

At the end of the SWC, y'all were clearly second tier to us. The SEC dynamic appears to be closer to 58-10 than it does some random scores right after World War II.

I like the delusion that Arky fans have thinking they're going to upend the LSU vs TAMU game. Arky could play the NE Patriots, but it will either be one-sided or less than awe inspiring until Arkansas climbs out of the bottom of the SEC West
