ESPN wasn't wrong.

They were lied to - by AU AD Jay Jacobs.

quote:

GLENDALE, AZ (AP) -- The contingent of Cam Newton's family attending Monday night's BCS championship game didn't include the quarterback's father, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said.

Cecil Newton was restricted to "limited access" to the school's athletic program when the NCAA found that he shopped his son's services to Mississippi State during the recruiting process.

He also skipped the Heisman ceremony in New York.

Jacobs said the decision for Cecil Newton not to attend "was mutually agreed upon. Out of the highest respect that Cecil has for Cameron, he won't be here today."

Newton had said that his father would be among the contingent traveling from Georgia for the game, but that he didn't know if Cecil Newton would be attending the game. He said the Newton group would be "loud and proud."

They don't have to follow rules or agreements.

It was up to Auburn, not the NCAA, I believe.

quote:

Meanwhile over in the east stands, Newton motioned to someone in the crowd. He then climbed over the short wall and waded through the mass of bodies, wearing orange and blue gear. He then went past an "Eat More Duck" sign and continued a few rows up until he found his father, Cecil. Cam -- the Heisman Trophy winner -- then celebrated with the man who the NCAA determined had shopped his son to Mississippi State for $180,000.

Auburn center Ryan Pugh, who was down on the field conducting interviews, glanced over and saw the Newton's exchanging a bear hug.

"I wish I was up there with Cam and his dad," Pugh said.

its crazy how those guys can't see what everyone else sees. However, i think it helped them bond together as a team this year, and the media scrutiny just brought them closer together.

...I know, and with his ability to follow the rules this is surprising. This guy is a fcuking liar do you think he gives a shite what the NCAA says. His boy played his last college game that night and they will be rich as shite next year.

Auburn will feel the fallout of Cecil and Cam not Cecil and Cam. They used Auburn and Auburn used them. This was a financial arrangement and both parties got what they wanted.

Stay tuned for the train wreck.

Don't worry, they're not gonna be rich long. They strike you as intelligent people, especially when you toss in millions?

I can't wait for them to be broke and cam and daddy wrie a book to cash in one more time.

And his sons seeds quenched the thirst of the Auburn family.
