but the newly minted Miss State coach just fired his whole offensive staff in anticipation of Briles taking over the offense.

ruh-roh now we will see what g5 leftover he gets as OC with no supporting staff.

Another chapter in how to take a 9 win team and run it straight into the crapper

Maybe he shouldn’t have been so hasty to fire every coach Mike Leach brought to Miss State, what a meathead

Not surprised if true.

This is completely false. Some of the offensive staff was retained. Yes, we offered Briles, but his agent (Sexton) used it as leverage to get him more money at Arky. Briles was never that close to actually taking the OC job at State.
Also, Arnett is not going to run Leach's offense, so staff changes were needed.

First.. no. The whole offense staff was not fired.

Second… you are really surprised a new coach makes changes in the staff?

We cannot continue to run the offense as it was. The guy that steered the air raid ship is gone. What we supposed to do? Just promote a position coach to take over the entire offense and expect it to run like Leach ran it?

That’s a stupid assumption.

The offense is going to have to change no matter who lands at the OC position. So no.. we didn’t fire the entire staff in mere anticipation of a possible hire.

Briles has a choice. Jump to a better program or stay at Arkansas for more money.

Someone on MSU 247 said it's a done deal, Briles to MSU?
Can anyone confirm the source?

Who in their right mind leaves Fayetteville, AR for the slums of Starkville?

Really can't say it's a better program.

Facilities: Arkansas
Tradition: Wash at best... I'd still say Arkansas
Local talent: MS St.
Head to head: Hog's lead 18-14-1
Living conditions: Arkansas
Local Education Options: Arkansas

So what exactly was your rationale?

Last decade is the polar opposite. It sucks to admit I am sure but our programs are going in two different directions.

Hailstate15,

I wasn't trying to start a fight with state. Much respect for the Pirate and truly hate what ya'll have had to go through.... just saying ya'll are not a better program.
