I, for one, am glad that Kiffin called them out.
why? if he calls them out, he should at least be correct about the call. otherwise, the complaints lose all credibility and he looks like an excuse-making sore loser.

Best thing he can do is keep his criticism between him and the conference. Best for Kiffin and best for the game.

honestly i see nothing wrong with calling out completely terrible calls. I think Petrino was right to comment (no homer), and I think Mullen was right to say the video crew should have taken longer to review the UF touchdown.
But seriously, complaining about something and getting it completely wrong does nothing but get the SEC to clamp down on all coaches and makes the other, real complaints lose legitimacy.

I believe that Kiffin, and Petrino and Mullins to a small degree, are going to start getting their games put under a microscope.
The officials will call every minor penalty. I think they will want to make it difficult for the coaches that complained about them. Every single hold, every little off-sides, everything will be watched for and called.

This.
SO much.
I have no problem with legit gripes. But this douchekabob was moaning and complaining about something HE HAD COMPLETELY WRONG. Embarrassing.
Plus, he implied that the officials were protecting Alabama and Florida - thus implying corruption. I don't think there is any corruption. Incompetence, maybe.
AND he blamed his poor clock management and questionable calls at the end of the game on the fear "of getting a flag". Weak and mealy mouthed excuse making and using an easy target to deflect the blame to.

I'd be okay with this, as long as it's called both ways.
EDIT: to jatebe's comment.

Believe me or not....that won't happen.

i have been vocal all along in more than one post that this would happen. you don't flaunt the rules and slap the commissioner in the face and get away with it. this isn't some classroom situation we're dealing with; the SEC is a huge and highly profitable collection of huge and highly profitable football schools. they cannot afford for someone to take them on publically and make a mockery of our officials and of our league. make no mistake about it, Lane Kiffin is in trouble and he is a marked man. If he doesn't shut up, i fully expect him to be made an example of and in a dramatic fashion. Power is easy to spot and Lane Kiffin has none; he is bound by contract with a morals clause and UT is also bound by conference affiliation and agreement (also contractual). The officials at UT are not dummies; they'll can Kiffins arrogant arse in a heartbeat. They don't want to anger fans, but they will. They, and their conference affiliation (a highly profitable arrangement), is much, much stronger than one coach.

Kiffin is such a douche

what you (and some others)do not understand is that there IS a forum in place to call out the ref.s There is an established procedure and it involves....
#1 being able to substantiate the call was WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE. Kiffin's dumb arse made some incorrect comments about the rules. the dumb arse doesn't know the rules
#2the calls are not to be challenged in public for a reason. if you aren't smart enough to figure out why it is bad for the sec and for every member school to have coaches calling out the officials every friggin' week JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK THE CALL WAS BAD, i'm also calling you a dumb arse.
folks can hold kiffin up as a hero if they want, but it really doesn't look good for them.

You don't jump the designated channels of authority.
This would be no issue if the coaches didn't make shite personal and issued their complaints to the office through proper channels.
That way Kiffin wouldn't look like a dumb arse for calling out the Refs for making the right calls.

I figured. You're able to quote rules and their numbers at will, and you seem to come to the defense of the ref's pretty quickly.
good luck on your healing. guess this means otherwise you could run a mile and a half in under 20 minutes?

Appreciate it.
1.5 under 20 isn't that big of a deal. But, I've always said there should be physical standards. Having fatasses on the field, even if they can do the job, doesn't send a positive message. Anyone who cares enough to study and work to learn the job should care enough to look the part. JMO

arrakis, just curious about something and since I don't know any officials in real life, I'll just ask you.
How come you don't ever see any female officials?
I have always thought that would be an awesome thing to do, but there are no women.
And us women get good at spotting when people are up to something - just ask our kids.
We see stuff Dads never see.
