I don't know. Id be torn if I were a UGA fan for the sole reason of being scared they would turn into UT

I think he has a makeup team following him around. Every other time I see him on the sideline I think to myself, "hmm, his hair is getting grey, and thin, and he's wrinkly, and a bit strung out looking."

Then he does the post game interview and he looks 40. He's a chameleon

Losing to Spurrier and UF to miss out on the SEC championship game and losing to GA Tech to finish the season are acceptable at UGA. 9-3 is a great season

Sadly, judging from the rant, a large portion of our fan base would agree with this sarcasm.

If the Georgia job opened up, I think it would be a feeding frenzy to land it. They seem like a sleeping giant who are already sleepwalking to top 15 type finishes.

The UGA loss to Ga Tech hurt watching it and I had no dog in the fight other than SEC loyalty. For all the times I have screamed after a headscratcher play call by Miles and co, that squib kick with 18 seconds left was absolutely shocking.

Richt is a great coach, but it really is bewildering that they have not owned the SEC east for the last 2 years.

Does not compute. I'll give 2013 a pass due to injuries, but there were zero excuses this season.

This is what I was thinking yesterday. At least we are not jawja and stuck with Helen in perpetual mediocrity. We have hope that we will get a great coach again.

I'd say keep Helen, but I don't have your best interests at heart. But I get that there is risk in getting rid of her. You could end up like TeN.

This is a lose/lose imo.

Or even worse, we could end up like UF

Terrible, overplayed Helen Hunt jokes aside, you're spot on. At least half of our fans are happy winning 9-10 games every season and losing the huge game when it matters as long as we don't have any 6-6 type seasons (or losses to Georgia Southern ) to go with it. I said earlier today that I would trade a 2-10 2015 for a 2002-2009 like USCw run starting in 2016 in a heartbeat and got ripped to shreds for it.

I used to think about UGA football under Richt like a college basketball team. If he keeps putting really good teams on the field, eventually everything will bounce his way and it'll finally happen for Georgia. I don't think that anymore. He has put some unholy talented teams on a football field, and they find a way to brain cramp it up for one game every single season. You can set your watch to it. As a result, besides 2012, UGA hasn't been relevant beyond mid October in a very long time. I don't see this changing under Richt anymore. I used to, but this team has sucked all the belief out of me for too many seasons.

Richt should change. He is very close to winning it all in some years. Talent is not the issue, depth is. Combine lack of depth with injury bug and it means two or three losses. It's almost like watching Tommy Bowden at Clemson.

I've said this before on our board, but until UGA decides at the administrative level that they will provide the level of support necessary to compete with other power programs at a championship level, it is totally unrealistic to think that a new coach would make any substantive difference.

Richt is coaching with one arm tied behind his back relative to his peers at Alabama, Auburn, LSU, UT, etc. I think it's a UGA problem more than it is a Richt problem.

Could you elaborate on this? What type of admin support?

Thanks, I was wondering the same. I had always heard that Richt was the one with the restrictive policies and not the administration.

There have been a few of those. The following were loaded with talent most years.

Mack Brown
Pat Dye
Dean Smith (yes, best talent and few NCs to show for it)
Bobby Bowden to a degree.

Negative. I think you're talking about the drug and alcohol policies. Assuming you are, those are university policies out of Richt's control. That works against him.

That works against him, but I think the bigger issue is in UGA's unwillingness to support the program in support staff and facility upgrades. The S&C staff is bad, we have half the support and S&C staff that peers do, facilities lag behind, promised upgrades were thrown aside (indoor facility), smaller recruiting budget, etc. UGA's coaching staff is top notch now, but the picture isn't so pretty behind the scenes. Even with assistant coaches, Richt has famously been reprimanded for giving them raises out of his own pocket because the University refused to pay them.

Basically, the administrators and BOR have shown little interest in investing in the program beyond the minimal level to keep fans in the seats. Until that changes, the fans are going to have to learn to live with what we have in Richt.

He's the most consistent winner at UGA ever, so either UGA is really awful at picking coaches historically, or there are bigger problems holding the program back beyond the coach.

What about calling timeout when GaTech was going to be lucky to get the FG off at the end of regulation?

UGA's own announcers were boggled by this. Bonehead move.
