I always loved how Boone was even surprised no one else was covering.

I'm curious who the Georgia fans talking bad about Grantham fell that Mississippi State could have gotten better?

I mean is it Todd's fault that shitty UGA db couldn't contain?

Our whole angle isn't "msu sucks and had to settle for grantham"...truth be told grantham is probably a very good hire for MSU's football program. Our point was that when he was here he was absolutely awful and we are enternally grateful he left.

When those DBs aren't taught proper technique yet he continues to leave them in single coverage, it is the coach's fault.

Actual numbers say otherwise. You know, objective facts. He had one bad year, when you had abysmal offensive production, and it was still a top 50 defense.

UL and State swapped DCs.

Very odd.

Figgered Petrino for one of them swinger types. Never thought Mullins was too....

A fan on a msu board posted it a while back in a Jerry Clower thread.

It was a good hire for Msu. Spin all you want but it was a solid hire for an area we have sucked.

I like a lot if what Grantham does.

Downsides are his management of the defense (not always hiring successful position coaches... he is not a recruiting weapon except for OLB. If the position coaches don't recruit like madmen, even Miss St could suffer).

Without facing a vertical threat, Grantham's 5-2 defensive fronts can be dominant. With a QB/WR that can go deep, then the entire defense can fall apart.

Our secondary will have a lot more talent next year plus some experience. That has been a very bad weakness the last several years.

Having a hammer at safety helps his defense stuff the run. Shawn Williams racked up a ton of tackles for us. With a lot of experience on the backend, you might be fortunate from a personnel standpoint there.

And talented linebackers pereform very will under Grantham.

Finally an objective post about Grantham, that isn't emotional.

This is baffling. Why would Louisville do this? This is a horrible move for them on paper.
There was reportedly friction between Bobby Petrino and Grantham if the local rumors are to be believed. To be expected with that many assholes in one coaches office.

I just glanced over the numbers really quickly. Grantham's defenses gave up less the 21 ppg in 2011 and 2012.

He wasn't absolutely awful. He fielded good defenses at Georgia. Your fan base just hasn't figured out that it's not 1997 and the rules in football in this day and age all benefit the offense and you're not going to completely stop everyone. He fielded defenses ranked in the top 25 for most of his time at Georgia, and the year he didn't the team had a shite ton of injuries. How is your defense doing without him? Looks pretty similar to me. Maybe he isn't the problem.
