The first one was the right call.

The second one was going to stay with whatever the call on the field was. The defender probably had it though IMO.

I honestly can't remember but was it too close to overturn? Were they able to see their feet on the replay?

I only ask for the sake of giving them the benefit of the doubt.

BAMA players foot came down first. If they knew the rule, it would have been overturned.

What's bad is that the second one was reviewed extensively and none of the refs knew the "first foot down" part of the rule. I wouldn't expect a lot of fans to know it (hell I didn't, always thought it was the tie to the receiver deal) but when a whole booth who is there to specifically interpret and apply the rules doesn't it's pretty bad.

I'm pretty sure that rule has hurt Bama too. I don't even remember who they were playing -- the 9-6 LSU game, maybe? -- but there was a simultaneous catch at the goal-line that went to Bama's opponent and kept them out of the endzone. I recall hearing that the foot down rule was applied and, despite knowing quite a bit about football rules, not really knowing whether that was an actual rule.

I never said you were bitching. I answered your title and then added some commentary as humor. I guess you missed the laughing emoticon. You seem sensitive this morning. Congrats on the win

BTW did you hear Bama won the game?

Yep, heard that. Also read on multiple message boards last night how AU was about to get screwed by the refs in favor of Bama on that play. Ironic how it was Bama that got screwed.

We've probably all been fricked by it at some point if we're talking SEC officials.

It's interesting to know though. From what I gather most of us probably thought it was just a tie-up to the receiver deal.

On a so called simultaneous catch, the ball goes to the first player to have possession in bounds unless it gets stripped prior to being down.

Which the strip part is what I think Eric Reid got, considering he gained possession, it seems, before the primary receiver was down in the 9-6er

If it is the rule, shouldn't the rule be followed going forward? Just have ref explain when it occurs.

Did you read any posts from me where I said we got screwed by the refs? I bet not. You can post that shite to those that did. How did Bama get screwed? They won the game, shite you even quoted me saying it already.

Missed calls sick but they happen. Not knowing rules is different. Same as baseball. Strike zone and safe and out is an acceptable part of the game. Not understanding what a balk is, is different

Maybe people are not sympathetic to your point because it could easily be argued that your own team benefitted from more than one questionable call. This call apparently led to a field goal by Auburn. A missed illegal procedure penalty against Alabama that was even called out by Jesse Palmer during the game played a role in them scoring a touchdown instead of having to possibly settle for a field goal

True "simultaneous" catches are rare. That ball was 70/30 an INT, just because the WR is touching it doesnt mean he "caught" it IMO

I disagree. If you look at it closely, while in the air, the AU receiver has the ball in his right arm secured. Simultaneous
