The Lofts at Wolf Pen Creek. It opened Fall 2009 and was managed by Asset Campus Housing. I'm not sure who developed it though.

Look at this picture. The tallish building in the middle is condos. The building in the background to the right of that one is condos. The building that peeks into the far right edge is on campus.

And that parking lot shown in the foreground is where another one of those big 5 story condo/apt developments is going, similar to the one SunHog posted.

Dickson street is about 100 yards from the pic, and runs between those two existing condo buildings.

Dickson is getting something like 1000 new midrise urban apt units over the next 18 months.

(and the 70s looking ghetto structure in the distance is actually senior assisted living, not ghetto)

ETA: The one SunHog posted is under construction about 50 yards to the right, out of view of this picture.

ETAA: The distant condo building to the right with the big windows is where Petrino's son still lives.

Here's a webcam view of Dickson from one of the upper floors:

Fayetteville is awesome.

The middle condo building has a bar/restaurant in it that I recommend, called Legacy Blues. It faces the patios of the north side of Dickson's bars:

Nice place.

Looks like the ones they just built in downtown Columbia. Wonder if the same firm designed the buildings.

Wow, Athens must have some shitty housing if this pumps you up. Where I went to school there are about 3 of those things within 2 blocks of each other.

I forgive you for not understanding but it the location >>> the building itself, as nice as the building looks. Athens has a ton of the new'ish apartment complexes with pools but like LSU they're a stones throw away from the action. Not far by any means, but not right in it. This place presents downtown Athens as your front porch.

All the johns creek kids go to auburn. Athens is more for the central and north Forsyth folks.

Exactly, and that's awesome.

Fayetteville has done an outstanding job of zoning to encourage infill, and its finally working out. The area of town around Dickson just off campus, until recently, has been sparsely populated.

There have been various smaller mixed-use, with most only representing a few lofts here and there.

The 2006-07 condo boom gave us about 60 new units on Dickson, but they are prohibitively expensive.

The current wave under construction will give us like 1200 beds, rentals, mostly students, right in the bar area. It should change things up a bit, as they are also adjacent to part of sorority row.

I have not been to Fayetteville yet but that is what makes a college town great, hope to make it up there for a game in the next few years. I went to both LSU and UGA and Athens was just 10x the atmosphere that LSU was, and this is from someone who loves LSU to the core

Location wise I lived in a place just like the OP but compared to that complex I was living in the slums. Basically slept in a 10x10' closet but it was still the best 3 years of my life

I beg your pardon?

How did this turn in to a "Fayetteville doesn't suck as much as y'all say" thread?

Poster I quoted went to school in Austin. Read his post history. Comparing a college town like Athens to a large city like Austin is ridiculous.

God, Austin has completely transformed from just 10 years ago. And it already wasn't really a college town.

The skyline is crazy different from 2000. Its just a big city. A nice big city, but a big city nonetheless.

Austin's campus area has lost a lot of the college town feel because they basically bulldozed large swaths of the area to the west and put up 10 story condo buildings for student living.

I think they've gone overboard, but that's what it takes for a university that large, located in a large city.

I have nothing against Austin. I love the city and would enjoy living there. But as a place for a university, I think people don't realize it's a big city. It would easily be the largest city in several SEC states I would think (without looking at the numbers). I didn't go to grad school but I kind of wish I could get the city experience for grad school since I got the small college town feel for undergrad.

But comparing housing in Austin to any SEC city outside of Nashville is dumb. No shite it's better there.

Many reputations will be ruined on that rooftop.

And frick modern architecture, by the way.

Its green, yo.

Seriously, though, the company that does the best infill student housing in Fayetteville is known for their green developments.

I don't mind modern architecture too much. When its thoughtful, I like it better than most "faux-historic" shite, honestly.

"Oh is that an antebellum mansion with a drive thru? No, its a fricking stucco and crick-built bank in an asphalt parking lot with a portico.

True. Looks EXACTLY like the Adesso building across from the new Honors College dorms.
