In the article I linked they did say PSU would have been just as well off getting the death penalty

that is the death penalty, right?

More like a "near death experience" penalty. You will never see the DP again IMO

I feel like today has been one giant troll job by every sports "journalist" with a twitter account. First it was everyone, even ESPN guys, running with the whole "unprecedented sanctions" crap, then saying that the sanctions aren't unprecedented, just the time frame in which the ruling was reached.

Then you have guys "reporting" stuff like this supposed leak that they admit originated on a message board. Honestly, even Sports By Brooks could come up with a more believable list of leaked sanctions.

The sanctions will end up being a few years bowl ban, and loss of scholarships, like someone said. That'll disappoint a lot of people, especially after all the hype today, so the media will turn on the NCAA, and run with the whole "unprecedented" angle they planted earlier, saying they acted without due process, blah blah blah.

Anything to get keep us reading til September, I guess.

Random thought here but I find it really annoying that posters on that site think that the Constitution and established principles of law apply to the NCAA.

Frickn idiots.

It seems to me to be more of a DOE (Clery Act) and Attorney General issue anyway.

I don't see this happening, at all. I suspect at the end of the day PSU will pay a monster penalty... probably running up into the many millions of dollars and that will be the end of it.

I just cannot see any of these reported penalties to happen...this is worse than the death penalty that SMU got. Football would be a distant memory at State College

To the people that hope this would happen, think about being in the fans shoes.

# 7 would create inequities for the schools they go to, I can't see that being part of it

So technically Ohio St could enroll the whole team if they wanted to

If true, Miles needs to be hitting up some OL to bring the 2 deep back to where it was last year...

Penn St fans have a point. If it's "lack of institutional control". What about the Baylor coach covering up one player killing another?

Same as the Petrino situtation at Arkansas. Those were dealt with in short order. Child rape went on with the knowledge of many for years at PSU. Not the same at all.

This whole Bobby Petrino fiasco wasn't so bad afterall.

The CBP situation looks like child's play next to this one.

It's on the MSB already but this was much different. Above Dave Bliss nobody tried to cover it up, and it was immediately reported to the NCAA when the admin found out. The school also sanctioned themselves before the NCAA came down on them. The NCAA came down pretty hard on Baylor basketball as well.
