I honestly believe the '11 LSU and '11 Bama were the best 2 SEC team's I've ever witnessed. I'm only 21 but it was a joke how much better they were. LSU slaughtered top 10 teams and had a great time doing it. Bama ran through their schedule like a train going full steam ahead through butter. Save when they played eachother there was no doubt that they were going to kill whoever lined up against them.

Again I disagree with my Auburn brethren.
2010 >>> 2004
In case you didn't notice in 2010, Cam refused to let the 2010 team lose.
And y'all think a team led by a coach whose very genetic philosophy insisted on keeping games close (i.e. the Tubershell) would beat Cam and Nick and Josh?
No, no, no... I must disagree most vehemently.

LSU 2011 > 1958, regardless of outcome.
Alabama 2011 > 1961, regardless of outcome.
Auburn 2004 > 2010, regardless of outcome.
I'm sick of people acting like teams are incredible and untouchable just because they're teams from back in the 50's and 60's and they seem mythical. Some of the best football ever fielding is in front of our eyes TODAY.
To my Auburn comment, the 2004 TEAM was better than 2010. In 2010, they just had one fantastic player that was able to save every game and win an NC for them.

Umm... the 2004 TEAM didn't lose, either. 2010 had one player, while 2004 was a team effort. This list about the best TEAMS.

Auburn has had some much better teams that 2010. None as successful, but top to bottom as a complete team, they've had several better.

Won the national title, won the Sugar Bowl, won the SEC, and beat everyone we played. That's a perfect season to me.
Edit: Also finished with the #1 sos.

I would probably put 1984 ahead of our 2010 and maybe 2011 teams, but last years team was better and this year we're going to be more complete... We're on fire right now.

And Bama... '61? No doubt it was a great team, but do you not think that '09 Bama would not crush '61 Bama?

You have to look at it with a historical context, or else it's just a list of teams within the last ten or fifteen years.
Guatemala's army of today would destroy the hordes of Genghis Khan, but that doesn't mean they rank higher than them on a list of history's greatest armies.

I don't necessarily disagree with this but the 1958 team was incredibly stacked.
-The Chinese Bandits were a third string defensive unit.
-Heisman trophy winning running back
-Perfect season plus national championship
It appears no one could score much more than fg or two against the 1958 Tigers.
The 2011 LSU team was the best I've ever seen and while it maybe easy for some to say they were the best, it's hard to ignore what the 1958 team accomplished.

In order of overall achievement - I get your point. But, like you said, the Guatemalan army would destroy Genghis, thus making them...better.
This is why these lists typically suck, like when people try to pick the best shortstop ever. Honestly, you can't say without a doubt that only one person is "the best", so that's why I like when things like this are broken down by decade.

shite, if statistical analysis was the only qualifier, then check out the 1908 team!
