Should SEC divisions be abolished relative to football?

The divisions were scrapped for basketball in 2011. I'm not suggesting a football tournament to determine the SEC football champ but what about the 2 highest ranked SEC teams playing for the SECC? I understand that the traditional rivalries are an issue but wouldn't a balanced scheduling rotation through all SEC teams create a more cohesive SEC?

Honestly it's not a bad idea. If we just took the division record it would make more sense to use divisions, but at this point you just play 8 of the 13 other teams. I don't see why you wouldn't just have the two best teams play for the championship.

Still not the correct answer but I don't see the scheduling get fixed till we go to 9 game SEC or drop the permanent opponent.

Well, it's not like we don't rehash a lot of stuff here. And tbh, I obviously missed out on the previous discussion.

Eh, this is better than the other horse-carcasses being beaten. FWIW I'd be cool with discarding divisions if Georgia got to keep UF and AU.

No fricks were given the last 2 times so you didn't miss anything.

Stop screwing with our advantage. Next thing you know, you'll be expecting them to call holding on us. How the hell are we supposed to win with you people screwing with everything?

The massive crying from the leghumpers when Auburn and Alabama play for the SECCG a week after the Iron Bowl will be huge.

Do away with divisions and you WILL see that more than once.

This sort of thing happens in the NFL all the time. No one cares. Why would it matter in this instance?

To fix all the issues we should have just gone to a nine-game schedule.

We need to go with that 3-5 idea that came up like, last week. Maybe it had been mentioned before, I don't know, but it was the perfect idea.

Being as the NCAA only allows confrences with two distinct divisions to hold a championship game I would say the question is about as idiotic as any I have read lately. Congrats

I don't think you understand what idiotic means. An idiot is someone who is mentally disabled. I don't fall into that category but I was ignorant of the NCAA requirement. You of course don't cite the rule. Here is an interesting article in Sports Illustrated discussing the lack of context for the rule and the desire of other conferences for a change in the rule: LINK

the rule in general is stupid.

Let conferences set things up in a way that is best for them.

The idea is a good one. It's the logistics that create enormous problems, way bigger than not playing certain teams until 2025

Lets just expand again, heck we could just add one team and have 3 five team divisions, with a division winner and wildcard plus 1 playoff. Eventually there are going to be 3 games(2 rounds) in the conference playoff, because there's too much money not to, might as well get on with it.

Then we get to hear the dawgs, gumps, vols and aubbie carp about being in the same div.
