LSU beat bama, won the sec championship and for their effort had to play bama again. If anything LSU should've gone into that game with at least a share of the title.

As a follow up to numerous ad nauseam posts by LSU and back-woods barner fans questioning Alabama's legitimate national championships, I don't think LSU should even claim the 2011 SEC championship. After all, they lost the bowl game. Alabama should be the rightful 2011 SEC champion.

They should just start acting like that year's SECCG was more valuable. It would be equally pathetic

Explain this Bama hypocrisy that you speak of.

Why not .

USC allows LSU to have a small piece of its title

You could make a reasonable argument but claiming it would mean that LSU fans would have to acknowledge USCw as co-champs in '03. The BCS made media titles obsolete. LSU was the '03 champ and Bama was the '11 champ. Case closed.

I think if LSU would have lost the championship game in overtime, and it was a super tight game, there would have been a lot of clamor for the AP voters to vote LSU #1 so it would set up a split title.

I'm not sure it would have been enough to make it actually happen, though.

This isn't trying to take away from what bama accomplished, it's rewarding LSU for their amazing season.

Jeez, I'm thinking that a lot of you guys have no idea how the BCS thing actually worked.

LSU WAS rewarded for exactly what they earned, which was an SEC championship ring. Fair and square, they did everything it took to put that ring on their hands.

But so did Alabama for their national championship ring, which was to win the final BCS national championship game. And they did so in a decisive fashion. Regardless about what your opinion is, there was a defined process in place and it was followed through to the final result.

Bama does not get a share of the SEC championship that year. LSU does not get a share of the national championship that year. I'm not so sure why this is seemingly so difficult for some of you to understand.

As an LSU fan I would like to say thanks for the tip of the hat... It really was an amazing season. Not equaled statistically by many.

Being old school I can honestly say having the SEC Championship ring means more to me than BCS. But, I sure would have liked to have won that game!

Ummm no, you kind of need to win the title game to have any claim to it.

If the BCS game was 21-17, does the AP poll give it to LSU?

This is correct. The thing that most people forget is that the process that determined the BCS Champion is not the same as the process that determines the SEC Champion. If it were we would probably be arguing about something else...

No it showed the hypocrisy of the media not Alabama. The media is the one guilty of forcing that game. Bama never should have been in the game. Now we can debate all day long as to who should have been but it most certainly shouldn't have been Alabama. LSU was the SEC champions over Alabama. Won the west over Alabama and beat Alabama on their home field. Then still had to play a extra game to get the the National Championship.
