You had one late touchdown and 5 field goals. Don't act like you ran up and down the field since many of your drives started in field goal range thanks to our QBs choke job.

Regarding the 2011 season, I was actually wondering (back then) if, based on what the AP did to LSU in 2003, they might do the same in 2011, and give the AP title to LSU. Didn't happen but would have been funny on here if it did.

Regarding the 2012 season the OP was actually referencing, I am guessing the implication was, that since LSU was not given the opportunity for a mulligan, we should get a split title since, based on how the previous year turned out, we clearly would have won the rematch if there had been one.

The fact that LSU beat Bama at Bama while going undefeated and still had to play an extra game to earn the right to play Bama again just shows the hypocrisy that is Bama.

We had 292 more yards than LSU and had the ball for 10 more minutes. The game wasn't as close as the score indicated.

Why hell no. You Barners are worse than LSU fans ever thought about being. The same BCS that put 2 loss LSU in a title game put Bama in the rematch. Les had plenty of time to prepare.
BTW, same system that gave UF a 2nd shot against FSU.
Go cry about Jameis sticking it to you with 13 seconds left.

LSU was 14-0 in 2011.

Texas A&M in the Cotton and 13-0 season.

The fact that 7 BCS Human Poll coaches and voters actually """"""" DROPPED """"""" Oklahoma State
""""""after"""""" they destroyed Oklahoma to win the Big 12 Championship to SEVENTH OR EIGHTH is what is so mind-bogglingly biased.
Oklahoma State had an INSANELY STRONGER SOS than bama and won a conference title.
alabumble had a PUTRID SOS and was a 3rd place SEC team.

Not saying at all that LSU would have beaten Oklahoma State, just that the BCS rules and point calculations were COMPLETELY frickING IGNORED because the MEDIA wanted a rematch.

2012? LOL

No.

Bama beat LSU AT LSU. That counts.

Unfortunately for LSU, when they beat Bama AT Bama the year prior, that DIDN'T count.

CFB promptly dropped their marketing motto "Every Game Counts" as well to accommodate the new narrative.

LSU and Bama are two programs that have different standards and play by different rules. Thus the life in CFB. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

So if you lose to a 6-6 team in week 11 you should get in? I thought you wanted every game to matter

It shouldnt be a split. Bama Won......BUT....

The rematch should have NEVER happened. Bama was given the rematch because the media wanted it.

It it would have been OU or Texas rather than OSU...Bama never sniffs the rematch.

That is what is total BS after all these years.

On my grave, My son is gonna put "the Rematch shouldnt have happened"!

Actually the ratings for the game were meh. What makes you think the media wanted it? The highest rated Championship games usually occur when more of the country is represented

The thing about this is that Nick Saban was a voter in that poll, and he gave OSU a 6th place vote. At that time, you could argue which of OSU/Bama was 2nd or 3rd, but you couldn't justify saying OSU was 6th. Saban (and a few other coaches) intentionally low-balled the OSU vote causing Bama to get into the title game. Not a conspiracy theory, it is a fact, the votes are public info.

Well you lost your most important game of the year, AT HOME. Then, you didn't win your conference. Essentially making not one, but TWO games that didn't matter for your brand.

The other team beat more ranked teams than you did that year, and won their conference.

Had OSU been Texas or Oklahoma, you wouldn't have gotten the mulligan. That's just how CFB works. They didn't have the brand.

No. No you couldn't. The coaches voted before the Big 12 champ game, OSU was #2. After that vote 2 things happened. Bama played no one. OSU beat Oklahoma in the Big 12 champ game 44-10. But you say there is justification to vote OSU down from 2 to 6? It was a money grab. Nobody was going to watch LSU pummel OSU, so they rigged the vote to get the Bama rematch.

No. We got our arse kicked. The game never should have happened IMO, but it did and we got waxed.

That said, I think this trend away from regional dominance and only caring about national championships is bad for college football IMO. Conference championships should mean something and I support a rule saying that only conference champions should be eligible for the playoffs.

Not taking anything away from the Bama team; I"m just saying that I think that's what the rule should be going forward.

The coaches had Alabama at #2 before the Big 12 championship game. After the championship game, OSU jumped from #5 to #3.
