IMO this is a big blow, he was probably their best DB last year, even though thats not saying much.

It is in the short term, he was our most proven DB and a very instinctual player. Sucks that he doesn't want to do the work to actually learn how to play defense.

I bet they don't leave him in there alone.

If last year was just shitty coaching, then yeah it would be him. Hopefully it was.

Shaq Wiggins:

1: Was a true freshman last year. He did not win a starting position to start the season. It wasn't until Langley (another true freshman) was benched after 3 or 5 games that Wiggins came in.

2: Made a big splashy play for a pick 6 vs Vandy, but other than that, has a highlight reel of what we Dawg Fans call "Why we fired Grantham" of which there are two sides. One side is "Grantham's scheme was too complicated for the secondary" and the other side is basically just me, saying "Scheme was fine, players sucked." In these arguments on the DawgRant, almost all of the film offered as evidence on either side, is of Wiggins fricking up.

3: Was arrested for driving on a suspended license a few months ago, off season. TPOS etc.

4: Shows some great raw talent, and had/has a lot of potential. I was looking forward to seeing what Pruitt could do with him. But alas, I'll never know.

Georgia's secondary is neither better off nor worse off with Wiggins' departure.

Another true freshman last year, JJ Green, was recruited as a CB, but because of his toughness and athleticism was moved to 4th string running back because of a lack of depth there, and sure enough, both Gurley and Marshall got hurt and JJ Green was picking up the slack with near 5 ypc.

Now that the RB depth has been taken care of, JJ Green was moved back to defensive secondary, and is apparently kicking arse and taking names.

But let's not stop at JJ Green.

The "Walk On" that was mentioned in this thread, is Aaron Davis. He was a top recruit with lots of uncommitable offers from all the usual suspects, but got hurt in his soph year of high school. He never played another down of football in high school, had 1 scholly offer from a div II, but chose to walk-on at UGA.

At the Spring Game, he blew everyone away, included myself, asking "who the hell is this guy and why wasn't he playing last year?".

He's very promising to be a starter next year.

Another guy moved to the secondary is Tramel Terry. He was recruited as Wide Receiver. He was SC Mr Football, like Clowney and AJ Green before him. He also tore his ACL in high school and redshirted last year, and has been moved to a DB, much like Malcome Mitchell was for a year, before being moved back to receiver.

UGA's secondary will be just fine without Wiggins.

I am not sure UGA secondary will be "fine" this year, but whether Wiggins was still there or not, it wasn't apparently going to matter much, so I wish him luck in his future endeavors.

By the way, AJ Green was a great UGA player. AJ Greene was some putz that went to Auburn.

Well, it does help explain why he leads the way in the locker room. Keeps him in front and that way everyone can keep an eye on him.

Ole Miss was his second choice. Would love to have him. He's a baller. For the UGA fans saying otherwise, shut the frick up.

Would I rather have the depth? Absolutely. Is he gonna be the straw that breaks the secondary's back? No. That has been broken. They'll survive.

Ahhh, so this is the spin for losing your best defensive player

I know Auburn doesn't understand defensive talent, but if you think he was our best defensive player you must be new to the game of football. I 5'7" cb who constantly interferes with his receiver, gets mossed by Mizzou players, can't tackle and gets arrested in the offseason isn't great. Obviously I would love to have his depth and the passion he plays with, but Ray Drew, Ramik Wilson, Leonard Floyd, and Jordan Jenkins are all far better players. It's embarrassing he led the team with only 2 picks last year, but a guy who gets beat out by a walk-on in spring ball probably isn't the best defensive player on your team.

He was demoted and was asked to earn his starting spot, he didn't like that so we showed him the door.

only idiots say what when nobodys talking to them. but I'll get you going, Manzel will suck in the NFL. Going to the browns will just make it faster and more painful. He won't even last as long as tebow.
