re: Sexton talks about pressure

If I'm reading that story right, it never says Sexton told the Texas people Saban was seriously considering leaving Bama for Tejas. It just says Texas is the only school he wold "consider" leaving for. The "pressure" part just sounds like some bait to maybe get Texas interested enough to toss figures around.

Sounds like an agent keeping his guy's name out there. If nothing else, it's probably good for getting more money out of Bama.

Saban may feel pressure from the Bama hoi polloi. But the money he's making and the success he's having gives him a lot of incentive to put up with it.

As an AU fan, I don't want Saban to just leave Bama. I want Mack Brown to stay for a couple more years, and wait until Gus makes Saban's arse quit, THEN Saban can go to Texas. I don't wanna hear Bama fan excuses, "y'all wouldn't have won if Saban was here" bullshite. No probation, no coaching change, full strength vs full strength. Hit him with that girth and make his arse tap out to Texas.

He was under "special pressure" the day he took the Alabama job. And now he's suddenly afraid of it?

Lol, that may not be the reason he leaves (it will be for $$$$$$$$$$), but if we happen to beat Bama this year and possibly next, ALL of us AU fans will claim that is the reason.

Do you sleep with Saban at night? I don't think he's leaving, but I definitely wouldn't say people are idiots for even thinking it. I remember when the rumors started flying about Bama trying to lure him there. People were laughing and said only a moron would think there was anything behind it because he had basically just left college and was only just getting started in the pros. People thought he wanted to succeed on the highest level...thought he wouldn't come back into the conference to coach against the school where he made his name...thought he'd honor his contract... You just never know. Of course he has an ego and would want to break Bear's records, but winning NCs at three school would put a different kind of huge stamp on things.

Of course losing Saban was not a death blow to LSU's program. LSU won an NC in Saban's first year at Bama. LSU has a great program. But as to the comparison - how many NCs has South Carolina won? How many SEC Championships has South Carolina won? I'm not trying to dog South Carolina (I'm a fan), but to compare the two situations...well, it ain't that easy. Plus, UF won two crystals with Urban and Timmy. Bama has won three with Saban and is trying for a 4th. I think it's a lot of fun having him in the conference, but I can see why people would want him gone (especially LSU fans). People want their team to be the TOP DOG.

Interesting article. I don't see CNS taking another job, especially Texas.
For starters- Board of Regent reps going behind people's back to have a friendly conversation wouldn't sit well with CNS.

- Boosters involvement and presence everywhere + the ability to come and go as they please would rub CNS the wrong way.

And I'll go even further to say I'd much rather take the "special pressure" at Alabama knowing that I have a competent AD, a solid conference, and support system then that clusterfrick in Austin right now.

But yeah, everyone has known for a long time that at Alabama you're chasing the Bear. Not much different then Kentucky BB and chasing Rupp. Some coaches can handle it, some can't.
