Mark Schlabach
@Mark_Schlabach: Tennessee said it spent $220K on legal fees and would have spent $5.5 million to litigate case through trial

For 2 to 3 more years? Would have eclipsed that, easily.

And btw, the school only has to pay half of the settlement, lol.

I know one of the plaintiffs personally and her case was a total sham. I wished she got nothing but I guess the bad PR is worth getting it over with.

Everyone at UT knew it was a sham as did anyone else who saw that even a freaking song and Peyton Manning were cited in the case. Hell, I'm surprised they didn't include Mickey Mouse with everyone they were dragging into it. But the main thing is that apparently even the attorneys filing this case knew it was a sham. You don't file for 100 million and settle for peanuts.

Right, everyone knew it was a sham from the beginning but just hearing this girls story (which she openly shared with anyone who would listen) made me 100% convinced that it was a complete lie.

Glad this is behind us. The bad PR alone was worth settling which was exactly what the plaintiffs wanted since their case had VERY little legal merit.

150Kish per plaintiff shows how bad their case was. You don't take that little money after suing for 100 million if you think you can win in court.

How much did the victims get at the end of the day? Sure you won, but the lawyers got rich.
