Serious question: how did Ole Miss get known for having the finest girls in the SEC?

I've been to most SEC campuses and see good looking sorority girls everywhere. Well, everywhere except for Moo State.

What is it about Ole Miss? There has to be a story here. I was having this discussion with a friend and all he could come up with was " yeah dude... but Ole Miss is just different". What is it that makes them "different?"

Do they just attract hotter girls? Or did they attract hotter girls a long time ago and now those girls' daughters (who have good genes) now also go to Ole Miss.... so just by a matter of proliferation, fhey have more than others?

What is your theory? What makes Ole Miss "different.?"

They’re not any different. It’s a giant myth, perpetuated to prop up a university that is literally not good at anything.

Finest what?

Vanderbilt women are the best keepers, hands down.

Don’t as me why, but I watched a documentary about some sort of pagentry being based in misissippi and this drew alot of miss usa types to the state in the 60-80s and I would assume most of them stuck around and the good genetics permeated.

This. And oxford is not this Mecca in the middle of Mississippi where you are handed 100 bucks to enter and everyone is high society.

What ole miss fans are exceptionally good at.. and it should be required reading for anyone in marketing.. is bragging on themselves and keeping a hive mind mentality. Well that and keeping crushing debt in order to look the part.

After a while people just start believing it. Worked with the front Freeze put up didn't it?

Ole Miss has a long, storied tradition of propagating bullshite and lies to make themselves feel better about being in a podunk town in Northern Mississippi.

It's that cotton field, Delta culture. Kind of a desperate "we're fancy even though we live in a shithole" thing. The movie "The Help" is a good starter for understanding the culture. "We're rednecks but we're not white trash". It's endemic to the small agricultural communities in Arkansas east of Little Rock, too. Everybody's "deddy" comes "from money" and don't dare question it or look at the balance sheet.

Oxford is two square blocks of quaint little town square, surrounded by miles in every direction of strip malls and crappy student duplexes and apartments.

Context is important, though. It might be the best place in Mississippi.

I would say Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss are the top three. Florida because it's a healthy campus. Seriously..every girl seems to work out. Freaking amazing. Ole Miss has the classic Southern Belle's and Georgia has to beautiful sorority look.

All three are worth viewing several times over.

This the definitely part of the answer. Lot of women moved here as the Miss America pageant took off.

Self-promotion. Look, OM girls are fine as hell but so are girls from every SEC school. We just heard it so much we bought into the OM = hottest girls myth and when a stereotype takes hold we start to see it while ignoring things that don't confirm it.
