The decision will come down to the Texas A&M game outcome. It always does. Guaranteed.

Not trolling, but wouldn't Orgeron be a "bad hire"?

That would just seem to be monumentally underwhelming.

So aggie5 will either be to blame or the hero. No pressure

Most coaching hires are.

I still think if anyone can pry Herman from the state of Texas it's LSU, but the landscape is really fricking strange and unstable with re-alignment hanging in the balance.

Weird times.

Wouldn't call it a bad hire. More like the right hire if Herman says no. Much rather Orgeron than Fedora, Briles, or the absolutely hell no in Petrino. So no. Not a bad hire. And if he pumps energy into the team and makes a difference why not?

If he does well with this team, can get a great hire at OC, sure why not. Miles biggest downfall was his offense, CEO can recruit with the best of them, fix the O and keep the rest going he could do well.

If he goes 6-2, I think he stays as a stopgap solution only if the offense shows considerable improvement and only if LSU doesn't get a top target. If the offense still sucks, he's gone no matter what and LSU will take a chance on a 2nd tier HC if necessary.

I guess, just seems like a scrap heap retread and LSU can do better IMO. No coach is a guarantee but just seems like they can get someone with a lot better pedigree.

I know, if I were a LSU fan I'd want nothing to do with hiring the interim guy unless he went crazy and ran the table or something. Even then, not sure I'd want him.

The problem with this is there isn't very many guys out there that don't have flaws, may look better from a coaching stand point but major flaws.
It's going to be Herman or Ed O no matter what imo. Tiger fans will be naturally underwhelmed with O or anyone not named Herman. So don't care who's underwhelmed and who isn't.

Oh well, it was nice knowing you Coach O.

Ed wins every remaining game except Bama and aggy, but they inexplicably keep him on anyway.

It later comes out that Herman's agent wouldn't even return Alleva's phone calls.

LSU fans react by melting and then immediately becoming scared.

I for one wouldn't mind him being HC,i was never a Les hater either.

By the way LSU fans, all this talk about who you expect to be HC is for nothing. You and I don't have any say so

There are a lot of other coaches out there besides Herman (who I don't think will be interested in LSU). So I don't think it has to be Herman or bust.

Anyone who is hired and doesn't have the team within reaching distance of a playoff birth in two years will be seen as a bad hire in the fan base's POV

None without flaws. The flaws with the character and recruiting ability with these other coaches do not out weigh retaining Ed Orgeron as head coach.
