Come on ... we've changed more over the past couple of years than you--or any other SEC fan--can ever imagine.
Cut us some slack.
Y'all want us to change our history/who we are.
Not many schools are just going to trade-in their fight song (we prefer War Hymn).

I mean no one in the SEC mentions a team they were once in a conference with in their fight song

So I wish you would reach your full potential and give UT the true middle finger by tanking out the minute long tribute to their mascot. Y'all are the big boys in Texas now, stop worrying about cutting their stupid cows horns
Why are you so hung up on this?

And I wish you would understand we aren't going to change a fight song that has been sung for over 100 years all because we don't play them anymore. You say that by continuing to sing the song the way it is that we are failing to move on. I disagree, us changing a song we have sung for over 100 years all because of them gives them power over us. Not the other way around
Its tradition. We aren't just going to throw it away. That would be stupid

"Tribute: an act, statement, or gift that is intended to show gratitude, respect, or admiration."
Hardly a tribute ...

We're not "worried" about it.
It's a very old song--sung by generations of men who were much better than are we.
That's it.
Don't read into it any more than, it's tradition.

They'll never get rid of their obsessive cult song
that's harsh. it's not that it is a cult song, it's just that it is totally irrelevant in 2014. it would be like LSU bitching about Wisconsin. they can do what they want to of course.
tradition is one thing, irrelevance is another. keep the song and play in occasionally but damn, change the lyrics.

Let us know when they change everything they have named after us

man, i'm not being negative. I don't know what "they" have named after you; I don't even care who "they" are. i'm only saying the song makes no sense in the SEC. maybe it's time to simply change some lyrics and shelf some others. but it's you business and do what you want. it must be difficult to make so many changes in so short of a time.

Thanks for "getting it," LSU GrandDad.

and we are only saying its a fight song that has been sung for over 100 years. we aren't just going to up and change it. there are a lot of things we can change, the war hymn is not one of those

yo brah! you gots it all wrong.
we almost always tag the War Hymn with There'll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight.
please ignore the vicious rumors that we made our own lyrics which talk about Sul Ross burning down Austin.
