You think that pulling federal funded to a major public university wouldn't have any impact on that university's football program?

How fricking stupid are you, anyway? Did you just start following the college football playoffs six weeks ago?

The CFP is owned by a private, non -government LLC called BCS Properties, Limited. They own everything related to the CFP...trademarks, logos, everything. They are not government employees. The board is made up of the conference commissioners...also not government employees.

It takes a special kind of stupid to think that universities are at risk of losing funds over something done by a private company they have no control over.

They love him on the Poly board.

I used to like him quite a bit and he's gotten my votes but he's one of the fakest, most try-hard republicans from this state.

Everything he does is some obvious move to garner points.

UAT took over $160 million in federal grants in 2022. I linked it earlier. I know 99% of Bama fans know nothing about the actual school, but I assure you that the school’s budget would impact what they did with their athletic teams.

He should demand a new ACC commissioner. FSU would have been in if the dumbass alliance didn't vote against starting the 12 team playoff this year.

2004 Auburn was snubbed by the BCS system. Back then you just made your formal complaint for publicly and then claimed your own NC. I still would’ve loved to see them play USC as both teams had some outstanding talent.

Point being, win your bowl game and then just claim it anyways.

He’s not buying the they aren’t the same team without Jordan Travis explanation, nor should he. The schedule rank argument is also weak sauce. Texas lost to Oklahoma after beating Alabama. And Alabama needed a 4th & forever miracle against a 6-5 team to avoid a 2nd loss. FSU scheduled two SEC heavyweights and beat them both. 13-0 against their schedule is a better record than 12-1 against Alabama’s or Texas’s. People claiming otherwise are full of it. They earned the #3 spot but got moved to #5 for completely speculative reason (less interesting to watch with their 2nd string QB). The committee was honest about the speculative reason for their decision, I’ll give them that. But the “other factors” criteria is bottom of the list and is only relevant for teams with similar records. That’s not the case here. They’re getting punished because they won their championship game with defense and it wasn’t all that exciting to watch.

Meh. Is he gonna go after the NCAA committee in shooty hoops as well? The committees can and will ream you over on injuries. They would obviously have a case if Travis wasn't injured.

No, the government has nothing to do or say about a playoff selection. Sure they don't. Let's see UAT function next year without federal funding. This is from 2022, but should give you some idea: 2022 Federal Funds to UAT

Sternly worded letters. Maybe Hans Blix will investigate. The selection committee admitted that expected TV ratings are a selection criteria. They’re worried FSU without Travis, playing to win a low scoring game, won’t hold viewers. A 10-7 title game is their nightmare. Keep telling yourself it’s about strength of schedule. It’s not. It’s about TV ratings. They’re worried FSU playing a defensive strategy won’t hold viewers. Maybe they’re right. But it has nothing to do with level of play.

A Congressional Republican offering up some performative outrage over a topic he neither cares about nor understands in order to appeal to the morons who vote for him? What a fricking shocker.

Do you have a link from official CFP guidelines that stipulate this?

Well...... Just so you know. These are federally funded institutions we are talking about. So, Congress does have say over their administration along with the states that fund them as well. Surely they knew this was a possible outcome?

So are the FBI and CIA but good luck ever expecting either one to be held accountable for blatantly open and brazen corruption that makes a mockery of the U.S. Constitution and the civil liberties of half its citizens.

If the playoff committee catches a lot of heat for screwing FSU they can take a page out of the two aforementioned American institutions and simply cozy up to Democrats in Washington and the mainstream media and there's a better chance of FSU being banned from college football and publicly vilified in the mainstream media than the playoff committee ever being held accountable. It isn't as if anyone much less a Republican Senator can or will do anything about it anyway.

Ah so government intrusion when it suits you. I’ll bet if it wasn’t Bama you’d be whistling a different tune.

You are self-serving and false. You’d make a great politician.

Wow. Move on people. No words or actions will change anything. The fix for this situation is already in place. And even then some poor team will get shafted next year.
